The College That Made Me What I Am Today -- SRC, Tiruchirappalli

Remarks :

I would say SRC is a great place to learn. It helps to develop interpersonal skills as well as academic ones. The environment is friendly and healthy, the kind you want for receiving proper education. It is one of the best in the locality.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum is good. I got to learn a lot from it but I feel it is slightly outdated. They should add new languages like Python, Ruby, React so the students can be up to date with the current technology. The exam structure is semester-based. Every year we had to appear in two semesters and by the end of the 3-year course, there were a total of 6 semesters. We also had to prepare a project in the last semester.

Placement Experience :

No, there is no internship provided by the college that I know of. Though some companies came to the college but their demand was low compared to the roll. I had to search for internships on my own and I got one. But what I learned was from SRC.

College Events :

The college held many workshops and technical events where we learned and enjoyed at the same time. Apart from studies, we would have many cultural events and the students from different states would dress according to their cultures. We would have many friendly inter-department events as well.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fee structure is feasible and light on everyone's pocket. My fee was round about 20,000Rs for the whole course i.e. 3 years. For the 1st year it was 7200Rs. For the second and third it is 6400Rs each.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Yes, the college offered loans to certain students. Though no proper scholarship is offered by the college but the students can apply for govt. scholarships. Even the children of ex-servicemen and SC/ST category students get scholarships.

Campus Life :

The labs are well equipped. We had practicals twice a week and they made us understand the theory more clearly. There used to be occasional dorm parties, workshops and other cultural events. I never felt any discrimination based on gender, race or religion.

Alumni/Alumna :

The college holds annual alumni meet and even I go there every year. It is good to share our experiences with youngsters and also hear their stories. I learned a lot about new positions and new trends in the industry from my classmates and seniors.

Admission :

I got admitted into the college based on my merit in +2 TN board exams. However, if you have qualified from some other state board or equivalent then can also apply. I had a passion for programming from early age and I knew this course is what I have to pursue. So I opted for BSc (Computer Science) without any second thought.

Faculty :

The faculty is friendly and that is a plus point. Students teacher interaction is very good and we would go to our teachers directly with any confusion we had. The faculty is highly qualified and teaches with utmost zeal and zest. They motivated and encouraged us at every step.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The specific aspect of curriculum is that it exposes the student to the actual applications of data science in the real world . The exams are held monthly once. Their difficulty level can be rated moderate.
