Remarks :
Overall, the college is very excellent and my experience so far has been very amazing. The faculty is very good, the hostel services are also very good, research equipment is up to date, I have got to know very amazing people here.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum is very excellent. The courses themselves are made to adhere to global standards while also taking into consideration our local requirements . The research facility is top notch and very excellent. The PhD guides are very good. The laboratory work is usually very taxing but ultimately worth it.
Placement Experience :
The IARI has an excellent placement cell. Every year, several private and public organizations recruit their employees from IARI. I have friends who got hired by Central Bank, IFS, and so on. The placement cell is very active and always on the lookout for future recruiters.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fee structure for PhD is very affordable when compared with other major institutions in the country. The fee structure is inclusive of various charges such as Hostel charges, Tuition fee, Student Union Fee, Examination fee etc. and is around 36,550(22,000 is the annual fee and the 14,550 is one time payment). The is inclusive of the Hostel fees.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
There is senior scholarship also available for the students of PhD, with a special considerations for those with reservations. The decision for it is ultimately made by the dean and is made on the basis of your academic record and the score in the entrance examination and interviews.
Campus Life :
The gender ratio is badly biased towards men. Few women apply in IARI as it is ultimately a science stream college. There are several student unions and even the mess is managed by the students themselves so we can participate in many such activities.
Hostel Facilities :
The Hostel Infrastructure is very excellent. There are several different messes around the hostel campus, catering to many different cuisines and such. A lot of people feel homesick so this is a good way to feel closer to your hometown. There is wifi in the campus and you can choose from different modes of accommodations like single, double etc.
Admission :
The criteria for admission to IARI is very stringent, especially for PhD students. The admission process consists of an Entrance Exam, an Interview and an assessment of your past academic score. The weightage is as follows: written entrance examination (80% weightage) + academic score (10% weightage) + interview (10% weightage). The entrance exam is written and has three parts, Part I (General Agriculture) and Part II & III (Subject Paper). The academic score will be calculated on the basis of the marks obtained from 10th.
Faculty :
The faculty is very very excellent. They are usually very friendly and approachable and always ready to get you through any questions or doubts you have. IARI has some of the most difficult interview processes for the professors, so the professors themselves are very excellent. They always keep up with the latest happenings in the research sphere and are experienced.
