A journey worth sharing

Remarks :

the hostels are the best you can find in any colleges except the food. Also there is strict rules which can be frustrating sometimes. over-all it will be a good experience for the student.

Course Curriculum Overview :

the curriculum is structured in such a way that in 1year all the streams will have a basic knowledge about the different streams. i opted for mechanical engineering but in 1st year i was taught subjects from CSE EEE also. after getting into 2nd year we get deep into the core field and also we have practical demonstration with the machines also. Yes industrial visits are also being held.

Placement Experience :

placement of our college depends on the stream which we choose. since I'm a mechanical student so companies like Caterpillar, Saint Gobain, Alstom, Sanmar technologies, Daimler, GE,Hyundai, Ford motors came. for the recruitment drive first we have to clear the college cutoff to sit in the placement then after that the company cutoff. after clearing the company's cutoff we have to go through the test in aptitude and technical field. after that group discussion and finally personal interviews. almost 90% Student who opts for placement gets placed. except the guys who opt for higher studies. yes there is a department called Cir which trains the students for the placements.

College Events :

there is a technical fest named VIDYUT which is national level multifest. then there is cultural fest named Kalotsavam. also every year sports day is held for different streams such as engineering, biotechnology, arts and science.also festivals like pongal, diwali, onam, holi etc are celebrated. mostly all the student's of the college take part in this events

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Feasible. It depends on your marks. We have three categories. Category A has merit students with fee 60, 000 rupees per annum. B Category students have to pay 12.5 lakhs per year. And C category students 25 lakhs per annum.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Scolership amount is given through epass scheme of government of karnataka & other schemes like NSP & sc st scholarships the amount of scholar ship is between 15000 to 100000 depending on the type of scholarship you apply

Campus Life :

looking into gender ratios it is approximately 1:1 and also you can find students from each part of the country, also you can find students from different countries. coming to the cultural societies we have ayudh which is actually a ngo headed by the chancellor of the college. although there is strict rules against girls they can't go out as often and also there hostel in time is 5.30 and 8.30 if they are indulged in any clubs such as FOSS BIOS etc.

Hostel Facilities :

the hostels are newly built and well maintained. there is only sharing rooms. Although if you opted for Post graduation, then you have to share with only 1 person else for UG you have to share with 3 people. Also you can avail the PG services near the hostel itself which will be providing food also. average pg cost comes around 5k with food.

Alumni/Alumna :

yes they are very helpful. there is no ragging culture inside the campus as well as in the hostel. even seniors are very helpful to all the juniors.they keep in touch even after getting passed out, giving valuable information which can be useful for us in the coming future when we will be joining the corporate sector.

Admission :

for getting admission you have to celar the entrance exam first.after that depending on your rank you will be called for counselling. since there are limited jo of seats for each branch so the counseling is called according to the rank opted by the candidates in the entrance exam. steps for admission are : 1 entrance exam 2 counselling 3 joining college

Faculty :

In the mechanical department there are 30 lecturers. with the average age of 35 years and minimum qualification of PhD. since a few lectures are also the alumni of BARC and ex employee of top companies of silicon valley they have there special way of teaching Students which is very easy to understand with which some tough concepts also feels easy to understand. not all of them hold industry experience but some do have.

Placement Experience:

There were more than 100 companies opting to get people from our college. Infosys, CTS, TCS and many other companies and the campus drive takes place at almost for 2 to 3 months. There will be even heavy competition between companies who's gonna recruit first. There are options if you are not interested in placements too

Admission:

I got the Admission in this college based on 12th marks and Jee main. i got Jee main score of 130 and 12th marks of 95%. so based on this they will ready a common Merit list and publish the All India ranks. based on your AIR , you will be called for counseling. You have to go to the SASTRA campus, on your allotted counselling date and time and Book the Branch of your choice. This is the Admission process

Course Curriculum Overview:

The Course Curriculum is really good it's on par with Bits and Nit syllabus. It's well designed to both suit the students needs and also equip them well with the basic fundamental concepts which can further strengthen their core concepts knowledge . moreover , the syllabus is designed in such a way that it covers 85% of gate exam syllabus. so we can also appear for gate exam immediately after completing our course. The Exam structure is based on conceptual learning. one has to be well equipped with concepts in order to pass in the exams. We must not mug up at any point of time as SASTRA exams will test your concepts rather than ur memory capacity. It will have 3 Cia exams out of which the best 2 exam scores will be considered for internal assessment and then followed by final semester examination which consists of 100 marks out of which 50 will be considered for overall grading. This is the exam structure
