My Review

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum of IIIT-NR is one of the best when it comes to curriculum offered by other engineering colleges. It is one of the few colleges to have introduced the branch DSAI i.e. Data science and Artificial intelligence. It's curriculum strongly focuses on the industry demands. Every faculty focuses on research part in his/ her subject by addition of lab, course projects , lab evaluations and class test. All these things add up to quite an hectic day but gradually you get used to it. Although there is a strict rule of minimum 75% attendance but even if you have attendance close to 70% , then you can get away.

Placement Experience :

Placement and job opportunities are good if not excellent. The major recruiters being Deloitte , Capgemini, American express , 1mg, Utopia labs, TCS, Thoughtfocus, Carl Zeiss, Ericsson, Neo, Continental etc. The dream offers are from American express, 1mg which offer 12-16 lpa and Utopia , Carl Zeiss offer 8-10 lpa and others offer 5-7 lpa. Among batch of 120 students in 2019 and 2020 batch each, 70-80 students got placed. Some students don't sit in placements as they focus on higher studies and prepare for competitive exams like Gate, Cat, Gre , Barc etc. The college also provides foreign internship program of 6 months to foreign universities to 20 students from each batch where it bears all the expenses maximum upto 5 lakhs. Some students also got placed to Big firms like Microsoft, Nvidia , Amazon, Goldman sach on the basis of the exams and contests conducted by them on all India basis.

College Events :

Technovate is the Techno-cultural fest of the college with the average footfall of 1200. The fest is very lively and very exciting. It's standard are increasing every year. Gajendra Verma, Rahul subramanium ,Nina and Mallika are some of the celebs to have visited in the fest. There is also a Sports fest known by the name Aarambh. It comprises of 6-7 sports event including participation from both male and female students.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Academic fees : 1,47,000, Hostel and mess fees : 63,000. So the fees structure is not too expensive but still quite high. For exact details one can visit the college official website for latest fees structure.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There are many good scholarship programs offered by college. The best being complete academic fees waiver to selected students based on the GPA scored by them. Apart from this, there are several other scholarship programs offered by state government and central government for which college has been registered.

Campus Life :

There are several societies for sports , Dance, singing, Drama, coding, electronics etc which are completely run by the students with the help of Sac. All these facilities are satisfactory. The gender ratio is very good i.e.7:3. Also the students come from different parts of India making it quite diverse. The bonding among seniors and juniors is also very good. There is no kind of politics in the college. The economic status of the students is mixed , some of them are economically very strong and some being weak.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel is compulsory for every student.Clean bathrooms and good dining hall. Internet facilities, geaser , 24*7 electricity etc. are very good facilities offered by institute. For the first 2 years two students share single double room and after 2nd year completion single room is alloted to every student. Hostel and mess fees are 63,000 annually which ain't too much considering the amount of services being offered. There are a total of 3 boys hostel and 1 girls hostel which are more than sufficient to accommodate every student including m.tech and PhD students.

Alumni/Alumna :

Since only 1 batch has graduated until now, so the alumni network is not good. Recently the alumni association has been formed. It may take 2-3 years to develop a good alumni network. Although we get quite a lot of help from our seniors working in different firms in terms of internship allocation.

Admission :

I got admission to IIIT-NR based on my jee score and 12th board percentage. There are 50% seats reserved for Chattisgarh state domicile students and another 15% for students whose parents work in NTPC. The admission process is very simple. It doesn't involves any personal interviews rather directly selects on the basis of merit.

Faculty :

One area of concern is definitely the quality of faculties. Some of them are good but majority doesn't meet the standards. It has a lot to do with the recruitment process. The minimum qualification degree of most faculty is PhD from IIT's. Some faculties are very enthusiastic about there courses where as others just do it for the sake of job.

• Students get eligible placements from their fifth semester i.e their 3rd-year middle. • Many famous companies like Wipro Amazon Google cloud etc come to offer placements. • Over 80 companies come to offer employment for nearly 800 students in a year. The same situation can be seen electrical department. • The highest average package announced as per the company is above 10 lacs per annum and the profiles offered are to the talented bright students. • Nearly 65 % of the students are placed every year. • I would like to appear for Gate and go for a public sector job in my core subject i.e the Electricity department.

You will never get the full details and correct stats from any college about their campus placement. All you will know is from your seniors. And what I heard is that from now on good campus placement have started. Still, not more than 10% can get satisfied campus placements. But not to worry because nowadays we have opportunities to get placements.

Placement Experience:

Placements are fair. Several classes, our taken to crack the interview round and to make us industry-ready. Well, known companies like CTS, TCS, ITC Infosys, Amazon etc do conduct their place drives in this college. Students have to work hard to crack core companies as very few of them visit our college.
