Remarks :
The only thing I disliked was un-availability of my favourite drink i. e tea after 12 am since the hostel canteen used to close by that time. Rest everything in my college and hostel were the best in all sense.
Course Curriculum Overview :
MBBS is certainly the best educational course to enrol in India. Security in hospital jobs, vacancies, availability of private practice in home city make it worth taking course of education. Exam pattern alongwith lab based practicals are moderately difficult but the fun it gives during exam preparation with friends in hostel life is unmatched.
Placement Experience :
Internship in medicine is compulsory and every college does that using their attached hospitals. It was a great working experience there since every student works in all of the 10+ departments of medicine like surgery, medicine, pediatrics, ophthalmology, gynecology etc over a 12 month period. We learn basic medical care and sometimes life saving measures like CPR, Intubation etc and treatment modalities of many day to day diseases.
College Events :
Being a government medical college, the events are mainly educational seminars, conferences, various health days and CMEs (continued medical education). But at students level we do have Freshers, Farewell events, college tours and Ramadan parties.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Being a central institute, fee structure is minimal as I paid around 16000 rs tuition fee for the whole 5 year period and yearly continuation fee of 5500 Examination fee was a meagre 500 rs. Means once you get selected via a rather very tough pre-medical entrance, our medical education journey becomes so easy for the parents.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I availed scholarship from the central government's minority scholarship program. Since the college fee and residential fee were way lesser than any private medical college,I didn't have take any student or education loan at all.
Campus Life :
Extra-curricular activities like every other college include both indoor and outdoor games and programs. Yearly college fest were organised. There were also yearly college sports competition and intra-university games. There were separate game events from males and females both and few were mixed like badminton, table tennis etc. The gender ratio in my batch was 60% boys 40% girls with no other sexes.
Hostel Facilities :
I availed the hostel facility since my hometown is 750 kms from AMU,Aligarh. Also the hostel is just 1 minute walking distance from the college. The hostel being government run was hardly any costly. I paid just 5500 rs yearly. For the first 3 years of the course,2 students per room space was there. In the final 2 years,I got my own separate room.
Alumni/Alumna :
The AMU alumni spread all over the world. There are American,UAE, Australian,UK,Qatar based AMU alumni working closely with AMU regarding international funds and organising monthly and yearly events there. The senior students are also very helpful in curricular and extra curricular activities. There also many scholarship programs the alumni of AMU provide to the financially weak students.
Admission :
AMU Pre-Medical Test,2012 Chose JNMC,AMU over King George Medical University, Lucknow because of the AMU tradition, ease of performing religious duties and bonding since I did my senior secondary education from AMU itself.
Faculty :
JNMC,AMU is one of the top 25 medical college in India. On academic level it gets high ratings too. Based on my personal experience, it's very true. The lecture theatre is well equipped with projectors,ACs,proper lighting and comfortable seats. The professors also give their best based on their clinical and theoretical knowledge. Overall the faculty works really hard.
