Remarks :
All in all a place that has potential but somehow lacks the managerial skills and young energy to it. A lot of good people in the system who are being side lined and not given a free hand to make this institution what it can be. If egos and administration
Entrance Preview :
IIMC entrance Exam. IIMC is considered to be one of the best institutions for Media studies, especially journalism and Advertising and Marketing. Some of the big names of the industry have studied here. This very reputation of the institute made me choose it over others.
Internships Opportunities :
Being just a 9 month course most students are placed by the end of the course, hence no intern-ships as such. But yes for students who don't get jobs intern-ships are provided. There is no or very little stipend ranging from about 5 to 7 thousand. Companies like All india Radio, RSTV, Prasar Bharti, Times Internet hire people for internships.
Placement Experience :
This is probably the only plus point. Having the reputation this institute does, the job opportunities are great. I yself got placed with a company in Mumbai. Most students get placed at the end of the year. Top companies like ABP News, CNNIBN, Genesis, Edelweis, TATA, HT and so on come on campus to recruit the students.
College Events :
We do have an annual fest which the students organise. The year in which i studied that never got materialised. Sanctions and approvals and placements and the chaotic structure didn't allow us. However we did have few other events that included a freshers arranged by the Alumni and a few other small events. There was an annual day celebrated in the beginning of the year, then a hindi patrikarita diwas and a few others.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fee structure is expensive however they do provide scholarships and waivers. My fee was almost 1L. The fee is paid in two instalments. One at the beginning and other in the second semester. Our fee being the highest because of practical aspect. By what they provide the fee is surely high, the equipment issued to us were not the latest nor were they in ample in nos.
Fees and Financial Aid :
They do offer half freeships to needy students whose family income is less than 5L per annum. Apart from this scholarship is also provided to meritorious students and students who get rank one and two in the entrances.
Campus Life :
The gender ratio is fairly good. There is a good balance. So is the case with diversity. However the college does not provide with ample interaction opportunities with other courses, students from one course are restricted to that particular course unless they live in the hostel. Extracurriculars are non existent in this college, a film society is in place but the events however much the students try to organise on a large scale never materialised because of maladministration.
Hostel Facilities :
Have not been a in the hostel to comment about the same. However the food quality as observed through the students in the hostel is abysmal. Food on most days is not edible, some days it still is bearable but not of decent quality as one would expect. But
Alumni/Alumna :
Helpful. A very active alumni network in place that organises events and helps newcomers. They have an active website and a growing database of alumni which help current students.
Exam Structure :
The semester exam structure is fairly good, however in most cases there are no prep leaves leaving students exhausted at the end of one week of continuous exams. One prep leave in between is a much needed breather for students and should be mandatory. The
Faculty :
Great faculty but poor administration. We have great teachers in our college. Most coming from reputed institutions and have worked in the industry as well. However, most of the time the production staff took our classes, undoubtedly there are technical a
