Remarks :
Pondicherry engineering college is the best engineering college in Pondicherry till now and provides best infrastructure comparatively among other colleges in Pondicherry but they have to reach out still higher and provide best placements.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Pondicherry engineering college is an autonomous college so the course curriculum will be little different from other colleges under Pondicherry University. PEC follows 40 marks internal and 60 marks for external exam. Students must get 50 marks overall(40% minimum marks required in both internal and external) to get pass.
Placement Experience :
Placements are good in recent years but not as best as in under Pondicherry University (currently autonomous). Yes, internships are there and provide stripends as well. Top MNCs visit PEC like TCS, Wipro, HCl, Zoho, aricent, Renault, etc.
College Events :
Department functions will be celebrated each year like NEURA (IT), icon (CSE), etc. And the overall college symposium PECOFES is the most famous event among all colleges in Pondicherry and will be conducted every year.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Yearly around 15k which is feasible but it's higher after the college became autonomous. They have increased the exam fee, arrear fee and revaluation fee after the institution became autonomous. The hostel fee also increased and it's very much higher than the previous years.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Admission in B. Tech courses in Puducherry is done by Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC) Government Engineering College, Puducherry on the basis of merit list formulated from marks of class 12. Those students who get seats via CENTAC ( by default all students of PEC ) get a scholarship and the fee will be deducted.
Campus Life :
Pondicherry engineering college provides the best labs and other research centres in Pondicherry. The sports activities are very well conducted by the institution every year and has all sports related equipments both indoor and outdoor games.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel is not bad but have to maintain good standards and should provide good foods for the cost they get paid. There's a free WiFi facilities overall in hostel campus and there is recreation place which is good.
Alumni/Alumna :
Pondicherry engineering college has a very good network of alumni and senior students. They are very much helpful, they have provided so many helpful things like providing sports and lab requirements, water purifiers etc.
Admission :
Based on 12th std cut off mark (physics, maths, computer science or chemistry). You will be ranked based on your cut off mark and you will be called to attend the counselling in CENTAC office in Pondicherry engineering college.
Faculty :
Well qualified faculties with vast knowledge in their respective subjects. Overall in Pondicherry, Pondicherry engineering college's faculties are comparatively the best. But unlike other private institutions, they won't provide any notes for exams.They just teach and leave the classroom, students have to approach them for further clarifications.
