Life at VIT Chennai

Remarks :

The College is amazing. The Demography is very diverse and all kinds of people live here together. It is well connected with Airport nearby. In all The Infrastructure and Faculty Quality can be improved a bit, But surely it is one of the top colleges in the country.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course Curriculum is based lot on theory and a bit less in Theory. You will have to complete 180 credits in order to complete your Degree here. The exams are theory based and lab exams are all practical and Project is also taken based onn reviews.

Placement Experience :

Placement Opportunities are really nice here and most of the students get placed in big companies at well positions. VIT has a 100 percent placement rate atleast inn branches like CSE and ECE. Other branches are a bit problematic.

College Events :

Our College organises many major fest. TechnoVIT is a tech fest organized here around September where students organize tech events and workshops. Vibrance is a cultural fest organized here where Proshows and other major artist events are organnized. Other events also keep happening around.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

It is surely a bit on the expensive side as they are a bit pricey. As compared to the major government colleges it is a bit expensive but then being a private college it is kind of normal only. With student loans and stuff you would be fine.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The College provides Scholarship to first 1000 rankers of the VIT Entrance Exams. This is the only scholarship provided by our colllege. Major banks provide easy loans for VIT easily so that is not a problem.

Campus Life :

Sports facilities are okayish. The Grounds are there and they work hard to maintain it as well. It surely could have been better. Infrastructure in labs is also above par butt surely it is not world class as expected.

Hostel Facilities :

The Hostels here have good infrastructure with all the major facilities for both Girls and Boys respectively. It is very safe for Girls with Female Staff and Guards in their Hostel. All the infrastructure is great at Hostels.

Alumni/Alumna :

There is a big Alumni network of VITians studying here. This is called the VITaa and they organize conventions and meets to discuss about the college and all it's related activities. They are really helpful regarding all matters.

Admission :

The Admissions in my college are done on the basis of VIT Entrance Examinations. These Examinations are based on the Syllabus of regular Engineering entrance examinations. The Exam is taken Online and the results generated in ranks. These ranks are used to make Merit List and counselling is done to fill seats.

Faculty :

The Faculty is above average and they are well versed with their components. Some teachers are really great and they can really explain the topics. But then there's always other faculties that is not up to mark.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements start in the 7th semester. Due to the recession, there is a lot of backlash when it comes to placements. It has been quite poor for the last few years. But it depends on how the student is prepared for the competitive world.

Placement Experience:

Placement is good for the CSE and IT departments. You can't expect placement if you belong to other departments, there is a placement for the other departments but very less. Campus placement starts in 3rd year itself. They have special classes for Aptitude skills and interview preparation GD and necessary preparations for job placement opportunities. 90% of students from CSE and IT get placed. The average package is 7.5 LPA you can expect a minimum of 3.5 LPA. If you are willing to go for higher studies you can contact the international relation office they have good relations with other universities abroad, they have students exchange programs, research scholarships etc if you are not planning to seat in placement. I plan for higher studies and research after my Btech.

Placement Experience:

The placements in my college is very good and top companies hire students across every branch with a good amount of package. At the end of 3rd year every student is elegible for the placements in college. About 20 to 25 companies visited for campus hiring and approximately 700 offers were given across the college from every branch. 60 percentage of students got placed in the campus hiring program. Highest package is 24 LPA and the aveyis 5LPA. My plan is to get into a good MNC company which is related to Aerospace technology.
