Remarks :

The Management is very much approachable for any kind of work. The college include students in college council, so that various problems can be discussed directly.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course curriculum is as per the AICTE norms. Exam structure is best on internal and external examination, the internal examination consist of to sessional examination and total internal marks of 50 and external is of 50. The student have to undergo 16 weeks industrial project/major project from the industries in final semester. The faculty also motivate the students for research work. Myself works on electro discharge machining in mini project and did major project from Tata steel jamshedpur.

Placement Experience :

In 2011 out of 500 student around 400 were placed in different companies. I got placed in TCS (manufactring Industry solutions), some of my friends got placement in TVS motor,ACC cement, Wells Fargo etc. Indian Army, Indian Navy also visited for pre selection of SSB under University entry scheme. Yes, college also provide internship in final semester. I went to Tata steel jamshedpur.

College Events :

Kalrav is the annual fest of SMIT, it is on of the biggest event in north-east reason. Number of colleges participate in this event. Other than kalrav, each department also celebrate their own fest every year. The mechanical engineering department organises events under MEDUSA ( Student association).

Fee Structure And Facilities :

In my time the annual fees was around 150000 including hostel and mess. Now,the fees has been increased with better facilities. The annual fees including hostel and mess is around three lakhs fifty thousand. There is no other fees charged by the college.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Yes, I took education loan from Bank of India( from home town). Firstly I got admission and then college issued the necessary documents for education loan, that I submitted in bank.

Campus Life :

Campus life was great, the scenic beauty of the campus makes the learning environment more fruitful.The Lab facilities was much good. College also motivate the students to participate in various extra curricular activities such as spots, technical events, seminar, conference etc. Students also goes other colleges to participate in various events.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel fees is around 40000 per annum with two sharing beds. Hostel facilities was much better including wifi, hot water, drinking water , room service etc. Hostel life was too good during my three year of stay. The hostel is near by the academic block, so it was much convenient for the classes in morning.

External Expense : Rs.2000 - Rs.4000

Alumni/Alumna :

SMIT organises global alumni meet every year in different locations of the country, so their is a large network of alumni. The senior helps the junior in various aspects like finding new platform, entrepreneurship, social services etc.

Admission :

SMIT conducts departmental level entrance test for lateral entry admission. The question where asked from various subjects of mechanical engineering.it was purely based on objective type. Some Weighted of diploma marks were also given while calculating final rank.

Faculty :

The mechanical engineering department had a set of dedicated, knowledgeable and caring faculties. I really admire the dedication of HOD sir, in the age of 60-70,the way he teaches in class was really appreciable. Facilities are very much approachable in any time, it's helps a lot.

Placement Experience:

After 3 years we will be given a honours degree but if we study for 4 years we will be given honours research degree and after that we will be given placements but if we want to study further more then here itself in the college we can continue as this college provides a lot of facilities

Placement Experience:

The placements of this college is well good than other colleges. The average package of SRM University is 10-12 LPA and the highest package is 1.1 Cr LPA. 100% placements are there. After B.Tech you can even do M.tech in SRM UNIVERSITY.

Amazing First Semester

Placement Experience:

NIT Sikkim is one of the new NITs established in 2010. The placement is growing day-by-day and we've started getting close to 100% placement from last year.
