My college is the best

Remarks :

My college is just the best. With so many amenities available in college the students are exposed to a lot of good things. There are incubators set up in the college where the students can take their ideas and projects into prototype and products.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is upto the recent advancements. Since Somaiya is autonomous, it has the liberty to change the syllabus and it has done a phenomenal job in this regards. Newer topics are introduced in par with the current scenario of the world. Students are given the opportunity to carry out their projects in bigger universities as well as the labs are made hy-tech. The students are encouraged to go to various programs and also participate in national as well as international events. The evaluation pattern is also unique. Students can opt for projects, book reviews and tests for their internals and the semester end exam is test based. External examiner's are invited to correct the answer papers so that there is no bias while evaluation.

Placement Experience :

Placement opportunities are provided but not to the biological background till date. Internships are available but they are not paid internships. I have done internships myself and it proved very beneficial.

College Events :

There are so many events that keep happening round the year. Listing them here becomes difficult. You can check our college website for that. the events vary from arts, science and commerce background. Every department have their own departmental events too. Our website is: www.somaiya.edu/kjssc

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Feasible for all class of people. Few unaided courses are little expensive but then payment by installment option is given to those students for whom it becomes difficult. Scholarship for girls is also provided.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I haven't availed any such facilities. They are available for the students from economically backward class and also for girls. The staff is very friendly when you approach them for all this information.

Campus Life :

The extracurricular activities are the best. Students are encouraged on a regular basis for sports and other activities. The laboratory is well equipped with most of the modern instruments. There are many activities all through the year happening in the college.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel facilities are given to outstation students only. I was from the city and hence I didn't opt for it. The hostel is fully equipped with amenities and the charges are also accordingly. The food of the hostel is actually tasty. The mess is open to other students too.

Alumni/Alumna :

The alumni network is very active. They also help students with funds. There is reunion event arranged every year where emeritus alumni are rewarded and new alumni are invited to be a part of the wagon.

Admission :

I was in Somaiya since my 11th STD. I got into the college purely on merit. My 10 STD percentage was 93. So in the second list of admission process I got into Somaiya. Then for my BSC and MSC we were considered on the basis of merit. I was the topper of my college in BSC and 2nd ranker in MSc.

Faculty :

The faculty is chosen with utmost efficiency. Maximum of the faculty are PhD holders with more than 20 years of experience. Along with that new young faculties are also appointed so that the students get the best of experience and new ideas.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum was more focused on analysis and algebra subjects which made this course a little theoretical but if that's the case with whole DU. Some subjects like financial mathematics, game theory, calculus made us being interested in the course till end.

it could be any other university with equivalent training and exposure that symbiosis provides - the plus factor of symbiosis is rigorous screening prior admission to assess the potential of student to accept training given - that includes live exposures in every course it has and freedom to pursue other interests other than the main curriculum plus interface with industry and global universities

Remarks:

over all this college looks very small but the facilities provided by them are at International level. A student from for example in mumbai University would not be able to provide international facilities. even a masters first year student here can perform electrophoresis and also visit reputed institutes.
