Remarks :
IIIT Gwalior is a good option for someone who is interested in computer science or information technology. It has good infrastructure and curriculum. The alumni network and the student culture is also very good.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum here is very specific. You get to learn core subjects from your first year only, unlike IIT and NIT where in first year everyone is taught the same subjects irrespective of your branch. Apart from this the institute is also committed towards keeping the curriculum consistent with the corporate world. So the curriculum is revised whenever necessary to meet the needs of industry and to keep up with modern world. The Exam structure here is same as of any IIT and NIT. Each semester is of six months each and in each semester we have 2 Minor exams which have approximately 40% weightage and at the end of semester we have a Major which accounts for the rest of 60%. Every subject has credits alloted to it and for the calculation of CGPA their weighted mean is taken.
Placement Experience :
You will get plenty of placement and job opportunities here. The institute is performing very good based in placement and package. For in campus placement, many companies visit the campus. You can sit in their interview in your pre-final year. For more you can watch the the following interviews of final year students of the institute: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLD8OcrKWNKedBEtbk6gueEOu8qRuP5vba
College Events :
This is the most exciting part of our college. There are a lot of student clubs which are active in many domains. Apart from these the institute also organises many events throughout the academic year. And at least once a year we have a large fest. In 2019 the institute organised Infotsav which was a Techo-Mangerial fest and then in 2020 we are having Aurora which is a Cultural fest. There are also various sports competitions held throughout the year.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Since the fees of all the government colleges have been going up recently, even they are becoming quite expensive. So i would say the fee structure is expensive. But there is no tuition fee for the students belonging to the reserved categories and there is a scholarship awarded to 5 students of each batch based on the criterias described by the institute so if you'll benifit from any of those the fee is drastically decreased.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
There is no tuition fee for the students of reserved categories. The institute also provides Merit-cum-Means scholarship to 5 students of each batch in which your tuition fee is covered and you get a stipend of 1000 per month.
Campus Life :
The institute has the best sports facility of any IIIT. There is a well equipped sports complex having facilities for all major sports. There are also appropriate labs with proper equipments, so the institute doesn't fall short on them.
Hostel Facilities :
The infrastructure of the college is very good. You can get a single room from first year only if you want which is uncommon in India. You also get mess in your hostel only which is good. There are common area like TV room, badminton court, TT table etc so the hostels are up to the mark.
Alumni/Alumna :
The institute was established in 1997 so the alumni network is not very large but it is good. We have alumni in all the major MNCs and they are very helpful. The seniors are also helpful and are easily approachable.
Admission :
Firstly one has to give JEE Mains exam after which you get an AIR rank. Then JoSAA conducts counciling for allotment of college based on your rank. You register for counciling and enter your preference list of colleges and then based on your rank and number of seats available in a college, seats are alloted.
