LIFE AT SSN.

Remarks :

As far as the positive remarks are concerned, the college doesn't force a student to study. It depends on how /her own motive to prepare for the end semester examinations. The college rather focusses on the overall social development and the personality development of the student.

Course Curriculum Overview :

As the Anna University curriculum as we all know is outdated, to be honest. But at the end people end up in learning the same for their end semester exams. Every odd semester lasts for a period of 4 months. And every even semester lasts for a period of 3 months more.

Placement Experience :

Placements at SSN at very good. Almost 98% of people at SSN get placed. Rest go for pursuing their higher studies abroad. Many top companies such as Google, Adobe, Goldman Sachs etc. Provide internship opportunities for students of 3rd year. Depending of the performance of the students, the companies also provide a PPO (PRE- PLACEMENT OFFER). Many bulk recruiters like HCL, INFOSYS, CTS, TCS etc also take in students in large number. As far as the dept of ECE is concerned, the department ensures 200% placement sureity for students.

College Events :

My college celebrates two inter collegiate events called INVENTE AND INSTINCTS. INVENTE is a inter - college national technical fest which would be conducted in the month of September (every odd semester). Students from other colleges are welcomed to showcase thier talents in both technical and non technical events.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

For the kind of exposure at SSN and for the college infrastructure and for allowing the students to be on their own , the fees that the college imposes is quite reasonable. It costlier than most of the other colleges under Anna University. But pretty much less than all other deeemed institutes. The students who have gained admission via management need to pay RS. 30000/- per annum more than the fess structure given by Anna University. I feel this amount is quite reasonable since the college strictly doesn't collect and amount as donation.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The students who gain admission in SSN via management quota don't pay any money unlike other colleges , which probably makes SSN stand out of the crowd. They have to write an entrance examination and then attend and Interview. I came into SSN via management only. After admission , the college validates the academic profile and family background of the students and offer them various scholarships. Students can availa scholarship from 30000/- for the entire year to a full 4 year scholarship (walk in walk out).

Campus Life :

The lab faculties at SSN are really good. They are well equiped with latest machines and well maintained lab materials. SSN greatly supports sports. The college has a separate complex for sports called SPORTS-COMPLEX where one can practice all kind of sport. The college also has its own team to represent SSN at various levels of the game. A special moderation is also available for students who claim an admission at SSN via sports quota. The college also has variety of clubs in which one can be an active part. All these clubs mainly focus on the student's interpersonal skills development. The club meetings occur once per week (minimum). The discuss on the various events that need to be conducted and implement them accordingly.

Alumni/Alumna :

The college has separate database for alumni network. I always ahs record of people who have passed out of SSN. A separate portal for alumnus of SSN called SSNALUMNI is maintained. Every year, the college conducts and alumni meet and felicitates people who have become successful and often calls alumnus to deliver a talk to the current students at SSN.

Admission :

I was a student from stateboard background. I was greatly dependent on the TNEA counselling for my college admissions. But then my cut off was not sufficient for me to enter into the top 5 colleges. I wrote J.E.E. MAINS, V.I.T. and S.R.M. too. Nothing favoured me. I finally got to know that SSN was admitting people who couldn't get into SSN because of lower cut off, via an entrance examination followed by an interview. I applied for it without a second thought.

Faculty :

The faculties at SSN are very much supportive. The college also encourages students to do Internal Funded projects under faculties of their own wish. The students are also given the freedom to work as a student work under any faculty of his/her own. Stunmdent consortium projects are also available for which the faculties support students to present and implement their ideas. A separate block called innovation center is available at SSN which is a showcase of student's famous and eye capturing projects.

The campus placements start in the 7th semester. Due to the recession, there is a lot of backlash when it comes to placements. It has been quite poor for the last few years. But it depends on how the student is prepared for the competitive world.

Placement Experience:

Placement is good for the CSE and IT departments. You can't expect placement if you belong to other departments, there is a placement for the other departments but very less. Campus placement starts in 3rd year itself. They have special classes for Aptitude skills and interview preparation GD and necessary preparations for job placement opportunities. 90% of students from CSE and IT get placed. The average package is 7.5 LPA you can expect a minimum of 3.5 LPA. If you are willing to go for higher studies you can contact the international relation office they have good relations with other universities abroad, they have students exchange programs, research scholarships etc if you are not planning to seat in placement. I plan for higher studies and research after my Btech.

The placements in my college is very good and top companies hire students across every branch with a good amount of package. At the end of 3rd year every student is elegible for the placements in college. About 20 to 25 companies visited for campus hiring and approximately 700 offers were given across the college from every branch. 60 percentage of students got placed in the campus hiring program. Highest package is 24 LPA and the aveyis 5LPA. My plan is to get into a good MNC company which is related to Aerospace technology.
