HBTU

Remarks :

There are positive and negative for everything as in this. Coming to positives:- In concluding words if you are not getting a very good NIT then HBTU is very good for you. Negatives :- The placement is something you have to worry while taking admission here ( there are placement opportunities but stats are not very high) Also the infrastructure has to be improved a lot.

Course Curriculum Overview :

There is semester system. For B.tect there total 8 semester exams as well 8 mid sem exams (sessional). For subjects having Lab practical exams are required too. Also internal marking of students class behavior is done.

Placement Experience :

There are placement opportunities in the college. It provides campus placements for the students. There are some unique branches under Chemical department (e.g. Oil ,Paint ,Food,Plastic ) which gives nearly 100 % placement. Also other branches like CSE provides very high placement statics. But some branches like Mechanical ,Civil fails in good campus selection. Overall I can say that if you have skills you will be placed in HBTU. Coming to internship , it provides internship in 3rd year ( also in 2nd year not so sure ). In the branch PT it offers internship in Thailand ( 3 students) each year. Other students also get internship.

College Events :

There are many events celebrated in college. I am trying to list it below :- 1. Fresher's Party ( A formal interaction with Juniors to senior ) 2. Technical Fest (Adhyay) 3. Cultural Fest (Adhyay) 4. Sports Fest (Aagaz) 5. Inter Hostel Sports Fest 6. Alumni Meet 7. Dramatic Nights 8.Ted Talk (Tedx it held first time in 2019 ) There are many more events and talks nearly twice a month and if consider the interbranch talks it is nearly the very weak.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

From 2019 fee structure is more expensive from previous years. The current fee for B.tech is 1,36,000 approx (excluding hostel fee) and 60,000 for hostels. It can be checked at www.hbtu.ac.in I am not sure about numbers for other courses like M.Tech ,Ph.D,MCA But I can say it is expensive for middle class and not easily affordable. (Amount is in rupee double check the amount from website )

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Yes there are scholarship schemes. As per my knowledge following are available for B.tech students:- 1. Fee Waiver ( Based on entrance & income , If you are a FW you will not have to pay the tuition fee as in my case) 2. UP scholarship (available for those whose family income is less than 2 Lakhs ) 3. It also provides loan systen ( in some cases) There are also scholarships for projects and GATE which can be checked at University website or through Academics.

Campus Life :

It provides opportunities in extracurricular activities through various clubs which are :- 1. E Cell ( for start up & entrepreneurship) 2. Robo Club 3. Areo Club 4. Decoder 5. Dramatics Club There are also sport teams for sports like Badminton , Basketball , Volleyball , Cricket ,Chess , Football , Table Tennis, (I have not mentioned all the clubs ) Some clubs are very active but not all.

Hostel Facilities :

Yes I have opted for Hostel There are total 11 hostels (7 boys & 4 girls). I have spent my in the hostel LV NEW which have a very good infrastructure and my current hostel is WCH 4 which a new hostel having a large area but it is completed yet. Coming to facilities ,there is separate hostel for each year students , all the faculties like grounds( It is developing in WCH 4) , food , maintenance are available.

Alumni/Alumna :

Alumni Network of HBTU is one of the best things of University. There are many Alumni Activities conducted by USAC & Alumni Association There is also alumni connect app for all the students and Alumni. Aluy Association also provide scholarships ( probably from this year ) Being a 100 year old Institute is something which will provide a excellent alumni Network.

Admission :

The admission can be taken through JEE mains examination , as in my case I followed the following steps :- 1. Qualified for JEE mains 2. It provides it's own counseling portal so the counseling is done with its own website not with JOSAA 3. After it I payed the fee & then physically reported at the University.

Faculty :

The permanent faculties is very good at HBTU but the guest faculties are somewhat not at that level. Still overall faculty covers all the course. The faculty performance varies as per different branches as per my branch Computer Science & Engineering it is good.

In my perspective the overall experience is very good but in the time of tough competition placement percentage is slightly decreasing and anyone who has decided to get enroll in this college must not depend only on college training and placement department
