Review of School of Planning and Architecture, Mysore

Remarks :

1. Placements for job opportunities must be seriously considered by the college, so that no one suffers unemployment after the graduation. 2. Alumni network must be created so that we can stay connected with our seniors and can learn from them.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course curriculum is very good here, as it's the only college in Karnataka and one of the 14th colleges in India with the course M.tech in Urban and Regional Planning and which is also recognised by town planning department of India. Exam structure is similar to architecture colleges.

Placement Experience :

College does not offer placements and job opportunities. After finishing the 1st year, they provide internship in various offices associated with town planning. Stipend is not given here. But the fees of the college is very low and manageable.

College Events :

1. A lot of live webinars about the current problems and modern solutions about urban and regional planning. 2. Seminars by various experts about a genuine topics. 3. Fresher's day to get mingled with our juniors. 4. Fun week where talents of our college are displayed. 5. Farewell party for our beloved seniors.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fee structure is very simple and feasible. For students who are admitted in Scheme A, the fees will be around 10,000 to 12,000 rupees. And for Scheme B students the fees will be around 45,000 to 70,000 depending upon various criterias.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Scholarship is provided by government of Karnataka for economically backward students and for various classes of castes like OBC, SC and ST. Overall of 67,500 rupees of scholarship is provided by them which is more than sufficient.

Campus Life :

1. Fun week is conducted where all the talents of our college is exposed. 2. Sports week is conducted where various sports are conducted and played by almost each and every student of our college. 3. We have a great infrastructure to conduct any extracurricular activities in the college.

Alumni/Alumna :

No alumni network is present as of now. It would be great if there was any alumni network so that it would help in our future to connect with our seniors and to know about the life after graduation. This must be seriously considered by our college.

Admission :

1. Wrote an entrance exam conducted by the university of Mysore. 2. Submitted by application to the respected college after my entrance exam results including required documents 3. They announced the list of selected students and I paid the college fees and got admitted to the college.

Faculty :

They are very well experienced , skilled and dedicated to the teaching profession. They teach us the basics and let us to understand the subject by researching on the topics by ourselves and they also guide us very well.

As Mtech is 2 years course, in the final year students are eligible for placements. Companies offer both full-time jobs and internships. the average package will be 6-8 lakhs per anum. only a few core companies like L&T, WSP, and prestige will come for recruitment. and there will be no mass recruitment by these companies. only a few students will get placed.

Placement Experience:

In a short period of time, the college has achieved extremely high placement rates. The college was able to achieve a placement rate of 80%. The highest package was approximately 25 LPA, and the average package was approximately 13 LPA. That is an excellent accomplishment for a new college. The college placement panel was successful in inviting over 100 plus companies to participate in the college placement drive.

During my graduation year, IIT Dharwad had a staggering placement rate of 95%. Microsoft, Nasdaq, Air Asia, TCS, Cognizant, Express Analytics, Sohum Innovations, MAQ Software's, Larson and Toubro, and others were among the major recruiters. 60% of the students were placed in information technology, with the remainder in core engineering, education, and research and development. These companies even provided summer internships to us in the final semester. The highest package available was 21 lakh rupees, while the average remuneration was 12 lakh rupees.
