In UPSEE and AKTU, reserved category students are given concessions on college fees in terms of scholarships and fee waivers by UP Govt. If you get a seat under the tuition fee waiver scheme, you won’t need to pay the tuition fee. However, you need to pay other institute fees.

There are also scholarships for students with a family income of less than INR 2 lakhs per annum.

I have a few friends from AKTU. They were able to give some information regarding this. Here are the rules regarding fee concession at Govt. colleges.

  • According to them, if you are from SC/ST category and your family income is less than 2 lakh, then your entire income is exempted.
  • If you belong to the General/OBC category and your seat is not under Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme, then no fees are exempted. You will have to pay the total fee. However, if your family income is below 2 lakhs, then you can apply for scholarships.
  • If you got admission under Tuition Fee Waiver, then you don’t need to pay tuition fees. But you will need to pay the other fees.

Irrespective of the conditions discussed above, everyone needs to pay Hostel and Mess charges.
