What is the importance of a CGPA for a B.Tech (CSE) student to get a good campus placement at Nit Warangal?
I have said this many times and will say it again, one should never underestimate the value a CGPA holds in shaping your career. Don’t fall for the trap ‘Grades don’t Matter’ because they do and to a great extent. This can be further understood through the following anecdote that revolves around two of my closest friends.
Both of them were CSE students at NIT Rourkela. Both were regular in their classes and completed their assignments on time. However, by the end of the 3rd year, one friend scored a CGPA of 6.90 while the other ended up getting a 7.05 CGPA .
During the placements, most top companies like Microsoft, Uber, De-shaw, Arcesium, Visa, and Samsung set their cutoffs to 7 CGPA. Students who did not qualify for this weren’t eligible to sit for their placements. The friend with the higher CGPA appeared in the interview for several companies and ended up with a good role and package while the other friend with slightly less but below 7 CGP could not even sit for their placements. Eventually, he got placed in an average company with a low package.
The core lesson from this anecdote is that CGPA matters a lot during placements, especially for the best companies. Hope my answer clarified the importance of a CGPA for a BTech in CSE student at NIT Warangal.
How is the placement package for M.Tech students from IISC, Bangalore?
IISc Bangalore is famous for its research-oriented environment. Earlier it focused only on academic research. But in recent years, it has also started giving attention to industry placements.
Most of the reputed companies that visit IITs and BITs, also come to IISc for placements. All the IISc students end up with good packages, irrespective of their course/branch. The median CTC for IISc students was 28 LPA during 2023 placements. The placement process of IISc starts before the IITs, which is a great advantage for its students.
The MTech placements are good enough at IISc. But its grading system is very tough. You’ll have to work hard to maintain a good GPA over there. With a top GPA, you can expect at least 10 LPA as your placement package at IISc. This is applicable for all branches- CSA, SERC, DESE, ECE and EE.
How was the Apple placement in IIIT Hyderabad?
Tech giant Apple Inc. participated in the 2017 placement drive of IIIT Hyderabad. They first hosted a coding test. It was arranged by HackerRank. The coding test had two coding questions and a few MCQs. After the coding test, they shortlisted around 35 students for interviews. The interview questions were pretty straightforward. They mostly recruited students in Product Development and R&D job profiles.
How are placements in IIT BHU?
Placements in IIT BHU are excellent. The basic salary range for the academic years 2020-21 and 2019-20 were INR 11.50-64.26 LPA, and INR 10-58.21 LPA, respectively.
The first phase of the 2022 placement drive has been already completed. Students received a total of 1185 placement offers. 35 students got international placements. UBER offered the highest CTC of 2.05 CPA. While UiPath offered the highest domestic CTC of INR 78 LPA to 2 students.

Here are a few details on the 2023 placement stats for M.Tech CSE at IIIT Bangalore-
- The highest CTC stood at INR 65 LPA, the average CTC stood at INR 24 LPA, and the median CTC stood at INR 20.7 LPA.
- 121 students out of a total of 144 were successfully placed.
- Top recruiters visited the campus for placements. This list includes- HP, Amazon, Microsoft, Adobe, Samsung, and Qualcomm, among other reputed names.
- Master’s students from CSE and ECE received higher study offers from reputed universities. The names of these universities are- IISc Bangalore, PennState, Texas A&M University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, The University of Texas At Dallas, the University at Buffalo and the University of Twente.
The placements for M.Tech are very good at IIIT Bangalore. You can consider this college for your higher studies.
How good are the placements at Cluster Innovation Center DU?
As much as I could gather information from a friend studying in Cluster Innovation Center, it is apparent that the on-campus placement cell is not effective enough to get every student placed in a good company with a better salary. The administration does not invite enough companies. The faculty emphasizes innovation over students chasing after corporate careers. Thus, the placement rates on campus are low.
CIC, however, offers two potential advantages. Its large batch sizes and robust network. According to government norms and regulations, there are only 40 students permitted into it. Therefore, everyone is engaged in useful endeavors. This college's alumni are forming a powerful network. The majority of them have good jobs or are enrolled in college. Students have achieved success in math, management studies, coding, and even in starting respectable businesses of their own. Few students succeed in GSoC each year.
How good are the job placements for MICA (Mudra Institute of Communications) Ahmedabad? Does anyone get an international offer?
Mudra Institute of Communications (MICA) has a great placement scenario.
MICA Placement:
- The 2022 batch got an average CTC of around INR 19 LPA and the highest CTC offered was INR 57.51 LPA.
- The placement average for the batch was 100%.
Students also get international placement offers. According to the 2019-20 placement statistics, the highest international CTC offered was INR 58.2 LPA.
How are the placements at Dayanada sagar college of engineering (DSCE), Bangalore for CSE/ISE?
For software jobs, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering is very good in terms of Placement. Here are some of the observations about the college placements.
- Software companies like, Infosys, Tech Mahindra and Wipro are major recruiters of this college. One needs to maintain 60 % in his/her overall academics.
- Infosys usually comes in the first slot of the placement drive of the college.
- If you want to get into the core technical job then you might not get that in college but this is true in the case of other colleges as well.
- If your branch of engineering is electrical, mechanical, and biomedical then you should definitely participate in the campus pool drive of the college.

How is the MA in psychology distance course at IGNOU? What are the job prospects of it compared to a regular distance course?
Admission is available in two sessions: July and January. The university supplies the study material, which is fine. It follows a year system, with 7 courses (6 theory and 1 practical) in the first year and 6 in the second year (3 theory, 1 practical, 1 internship requiring at least 240 hours total, and 1 project/research (can only be done if you pass the Research Methodology and Statistics subjects in the first year)). There are three optional courses to choose from in the second year of IGNOU's MA in Psychology.
- Clinical psychiatry

- Psychology in the workplace
Each has different job prospects, and it is believed you will be familiar with them because it is clear from their names what fields they represent. The procedure is extremely simple. Obtain admission, complete assignments, and register for the exam at the desired exam center. After passing the exams, which can take between three and six years. Following that, you will be given a mark sheet and a provisional certificate. To obtain an original degree, you must wait at least six to twelve months for the convocation to be held by IGNOU, and you must pay a nominal fee of Rs 600-900 for registration and certificate.
If you are unable to attend the convocation, your certificate will be mailed to your home address. However, the practicals and viva-voce are an exception because some of the exams were conducted recently (depending on the Regional/Study center). It is acceptable in the first year, but if it occurs in the second year, it may cause a hindrance for higher education because the certificates may not be available at the right time for seeking admission, (seems IGNOU is nowadays quickly distributing the provisional and statement of marks. The good news is that you will receive it directly to your home via post after completing the course). The learner must submit assignments for all theory papers, and writing them will take a lot of time, but it will be beneficial for a passionate learner of psychology.
If you want to pursue this MA in Psychology from IGNOU, you must fully commit to this course because the field of psychology is vast. So working while pursuing this course may not be the best option because it may require 3 months of internship, pure research work, and an ocean of writing work.
Regarding the job prospects, as a student of the specific course, you hope to win the UGC NET/JRF and continue your education to become a lecturer. If I get the JRF, I plan to pursue an M Phil in Clinical Psychology and become a licensed clinical practitioner in the mental health field.
