Should I join IIM Indore's one-year MBA course (EPGP) or continue working, given the bad placement scenario for the course? Or should I try for better colleges in India?

NK
Nitesh Kumar Posted On : January 2nd, 2023
Management Student at IIM Indore, Mumbai Campus

The placement opportunities for an Executive MBA at IIM Indore or In fact any other IIM are very limited. They depend on the batch itself and may be good or bad depending on the current batch profile and expectations. Moreover, people don’t pursue EMBA to get placed in a high salary package. They already have a job with a high package. What they are looking for is an enhancement of their managerial skills and the IIM tag.

So I will not recommend you leave your high-paying job and pursue EMBA especially if you are looking for a better CTC. Not even other B Schools will get you a high package right off the bat. But if you are still adamant about pursuing the program you may take a study leave I suggest.

An MBA helps you in the long run and not instantly. You should be willing to take the risk for maximum results.

Can I open a counseling center after doing a Master's in clinical psychology from IGNOU?

AB
Ankita Bhatia Posted On : October 21st, 2022
Master in Clinical Psychology, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

Psychology requires much more than just degrees and professional qualifications. Understanding human behavior, underlying psychology, age-related development, and distortions are important, as is understanding the behavior of those around you. Psychologists both influence and are influenced by their patients. A thorough understanding is required for effective therapy planning and implementation.

You can try as an Inclusion Facilitator at a regular school with a reputation for excellence. You will get to assist children with autism, and witness the significant transformation of their social behavior, academics, eating habits, and play behavior. You can try it if you have experience caring for children.

MA degrees are required for school psychologists.

Because special educators and shadow teachers are mostly hired by parents, their qualifications and other requirements are not stringent. Nonetheless, knowledge, skills, and experience are critical for making good therapeutic progress.

I think that Udaipur is one of the most underrated IIMs. To elaborate on this point let me enlighten you with some amazing facts about it

  • IIM Udaipur is the youngest B-school in the world to rank in the top 100 FT(Financial Times) Masters in Management ranking globally.

In reality IIM Udaipur is an IIM that has an extensive research culture. The rankings are a reflection of how quickly it has climbed the ladder. It is due to its high-quality research that many excellent permanent faculty has become a part of IIM Udaipur. This does not make it the best IIM but still, it is heading toward becoming the best.

Another major attraction of this institute is its impartial nature in every aspect be it placements or admissions. The students are not deceived at any point at all.

The placement statistics are seeing a gradual improvement over the past few years.

Is an MSW from IGNOU University beneficial or not?

NK
Niharika Kapoor Posted On : October 19th, 2022
Former content writer at Cyberframe Infotech

No. If you want proper exposure you should opt for MSW from a regular college. Only bookish knowledge is not enough for MSW. This is because when you work on some real business you fail to connect the dots and apply the knowledge practically.

Proper practical exposure teaches you a lot more than just books. It prepares you for the worst-case scenario. The trick is to gain knowledge in the best possible way to gain the maximum benefits.

Is attending IIM Kozhikode a good decision?

MJ
Megha Jain Posted On : November 11th, 2022
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode

Whether attending IIM Kozhikode is a good decision or not, you can know only after knowing the pros and cons of the same.

Pros

  • Campus: IIM Kozhikode is well known for its resort-like campus surrounded by lush green scenery. The natural ambiance helps students get a breath of fresh air amidst back to back classes.

  • Faculty: The faculty at IIM Kozhikode is not as responsible as the older IIMs. This means you are responsible for your own education. They do provide excellent classes but they treat you more like adults and you have to be your own motivator.

  • Hostels: The hostels are the best in the country. The safety here is top notch. The public and hostel toilets are very clean.

  • Academics: The academic rigour is as good as that at the other older IIMs. IIM Kozhikode offers a number of interesting courses in the second year like Strategy of Poker.

  • Placements: All the usual recruiters that you find at other older IIMs visit IIM Kozhikode. In addition, there are a lot of opportunities to work in the Middle East.

  • Student activities:There are a large number of student activities on the campus of IIM Kozhikode. There are clubs for Dramatics, Photography, Astronomy, Fine Arts, Quizzing, and a host of other extra curricular activities.

 Cons

  • Slow decision making:IIMK has not had a Director for more than 2 years. So, a lot of decision making has become slow.

  • Increasing batch size: The increasing batch size might affect key resources like canteen facilities, water, and internet bandwidth.

  • Limited sports facilities:The IIM Kozhikode campus has limited sports facilities. The students have to go to the nearby NIT to play Badminton and Tennis.

  • Food:If you are a vegetarian, there would be limited options for having a meal outside the campus.

The pros weigh out the cons and it’s actually a good decision to join IIM Kozhikode.

Should freshers take a 15 lakh bank loan, and study for a MBA in TAPMI or KJ SOMAIYA?

SS
Shreya Shah Posted On : December 26th, 2022
Studied at K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering

I will answer your question by estimating the salary you will earn after completing MBA and comparing it with the loan you have to pay.

Loan Amount - 15 Lakhs.

Interest rate - 12%

Repayment period - 5 years

EMI - 33,367

Total Interest Paid in 5 years - 502000

Tax Saved in 5 years (considering 20% tax slab) - 100400

Net amount to be paid in 5 years - 1500000+502000–100400 = 19,01,600

Average package in TAPMI - 10.06 LPA

Monthly salary in hand - Approx 65 to 70K

From the above calculation we can infer that you will have 30000-40000 salary in hand every month which is more than enough for you to settle in any state or city in India. So taking loans for an MBA is very beneficial as it will pay you back in the long run.

What is the exact counselling procedure for the B.Tech admissions in BITS Pilani?

AG
Anchal Ghose Posted On : July 19th, 2021
Studied at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (2020)

The whole counseling process completes with a total of 5 rounds of seat allocation for its various courses at various campuses. The whole process is given below, in brief.

  • First you have to fill out the campus preference form online.
  • After the first round of seat allocation, the selected candidates have to pay a part of the fee for seat locking without which you would not be considered for further rounds.
  • Then the second and the third round of seat allocation takes place after roughly every 10 days.
  • After the third round is over, you need to report to your allotted campus within 7-8 days. You would have to get your hostel allocation and all other hostel amenities as well after you visit the campus.
  • In the final admission, document verification takes place and you will need to pay the full 1st-semester fee minus the seat locking fee paid earlier. On this day also you need to “freeze” your campus. If you freeze your campus, then you are eligible to get the higher preference branch only in your campus where you have taken the admission. If you do not freeze your campus you are still eligible for the other campus programs as well.

Finally, the 4th and the 5th rounds of seat allocation happens usually in the first two weeks of August and the process is completed.

Is there any reason why one should not join IIM Bangalore?

SS
Sumit Saurav Posted On : December 19th, 2022
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Rohtak (Graduated 2020)

Honestly, there is no major reason one should let go of such a golden opportunity if joining IIM Bangalore. Yet I have stated some reasons which might lead to this decision:

  1. You have got a call from IIM Ahmedabad as well and you prefer it over IIM Bangalore.
  2. If you are tight on budget and cannot afford the high fees here.
  3. If you are not confident that you will be able to bear the peer pressure and the level of competition at IIM Bangalore.
  4. If you are not interested in pursuing an MBA.

All these reasons validate your decision not to join IIM Bangalore.

What are some helpful tips for students starting their first year at AKTU?

NB
Nihal Bharti Posted On : November 9th, 2022
PhD from University of Delhi

Some tips that might help students starting their first year at AKTU are:

  • Choosing a quantum will get you good marks. But in the case of numerical subjects go for standard books.

  • During exams, revise the syllabus through quantum and solve the previous year’s questions.

  • In AKTU presentation matters more than content. So even if you don’t know an answer, you can get marks by writing whatever you know in a neat and presentable way. Using a different ink for headings will get you some brownie points.

  • Attend college regularly on your initial days. It will create a good impression.

  • Develop a good bond with faculty

Apart from these points don’t forget to make the most out of your college days.
