You are comparing two different branches; Computer (CSE) and Electrical (EEE). If you are naturally inclined towards a particular branch, then you should choose it no matter the institute. If you are not sure about the branch then let me share some facts I got to know while researching about the institutes.

• NIRF Engineering Ranking 2020 – VNIT Nagpur is ranked 27 while NIT Surathkal is ranked 13.
• Academics – In this regard both are equal. Some professors are good and some are really bad.
• Extra-Curricular Activities – NIT Surathkal is way better than VNIT Nagpur. You will always find some activity happening on the campus. VNIT Nagpur does not have any such activities being conducted regularly.
• Campus location – VNIT Nagpur is actually better than NIT Surathkal. Although the Surathkal beach which is right beside the college looks good in photos, the same cannot be said in person. The VNIT Nagpur campus on the other hand is clean and green.
• Workshops – At VNIT Nagpur most of the workshops organized by the clubs are paid while at NIT Surathkal most of them were free and open to all.

I have a few friends at NIT Surathkal and based on the conversation I had with them, I will say at NIT Surathkal, ECE is considered to be the toughest branch.

1. The academics and research are taken very seriously in the department.
2. The professors are demanding and highly qualified than other departments.
3. In this department everyone, from HOD to lab assistants, everyone is serious about studies and making a point about academic rigor.
4. The exams are also very tough and students even fail in lab examinations too.

But the scenario at the EEE department of NIT Surathkal is slightly different and its biggest advantage is that it has a relaxed attendance policy, unlike other branches.

• NIT Sikkim started with CSE, ECE, and EEE branches. In the subsequent years, Mechanical, Civil, and Biotechnology were added. As evident, Electrical and Electronics Engineering is one of the oldest branches in the institute. It has been providing quality education to its undergraduates over the years.
• The Department of EEE has good facilities of labs and an excellent curriculum. The placement is also good enough with great offers from PSUs like Power Grid Corporation Ltd too, along with several private-sector jobs. The average CTC offered at the institute is 8 LPA.

Therefore, if you have an interest in the fields of electrical and electronics, you can surely opt for the institute.

EEE and ECE are both totally different branches and both of them have their respective job opportunities. After a lot of research, I got to know about NIT Meghalaya and Nagaland. Let me discuss them, which might give you a better idea.

• In today’s world ECE has more opportunities in the private sectors whereas EEE has got more opportunities in government sectors.
• They also have different requirements for the jobs.
• In ECE you just need to maintain a good CGPA, with the basics fully memorized and you are good to go.
• For EEE and getting a government job like PSU, you need to apply for GATE and get a good rank and score.
• Placement in the ECE stream is easier than the EEE stream.
• The placements of NIT Meghalaya are a little above Nagaland.
• You can change your course in NIT Meghalaya to ECE even after selecting EEE in the first semester.

The most important thing is to make a choice based on your preference of course rather than the institute name since both of them are on equal terms in all aspects.
