Both IIMs are roughly comparable. And IIMK cannot be compared to IIMI solely on the basis of one or two major corporations. The benefits of being in K include being exposed to a different culture (Kerala as well as the campus culture in K, which includes things like open-door culture, etc.), which makes you a better person outside of the classroom. Academically, almost all subjects and streams have faculty similar to IIMI, a very good library, and a business museum that no other IIM has. IIMK and IIMI are both exposed to all business competitions, so there is no difference there either.
Although Indore is larger in terms of land area, the natural beauty of IIMK is breathtaking. The smaller batch size also helps K to get better quality placements for all, whereas IIMI lags behind due to their larger batch size for Indore Campus and combined placements for their Mumbai campus as well. IIMK is more than just a business management school; it has attempted to instill a sense of responsibility in its students through social projects and subjects such as Social Transformation and Globalization taught by renowned faculty. These may not be extra benefits for those who have passed both colleges, but they do provide IIMK alumni with a sense of pride.
Admission to IITs is done through JEE and GATE while UPSC CSE is held to recruit IAS, IPS, and IFS in the government. The IIT-JEE is the most difficult exam in India and the second most difficult exam in the world, the UPSC exams, and the GATE are ranked third and eighth in the world, respectively.
The highly competitive and coveted IIT-JEE witnesses over 1.2 million hopeful candidates every year for just 11,000 seats in 23 IITs, making the acceptance rate a mere 1%. The exam demands continuous efforts for more than two years and requires a high level of aptitude and commitment.
UPSC civil services exams are a gateway to the coveted Indian civil services. These comprise multiple rounds, an exhaustive syllabus, and rigorous preparation across various subjects making it quite difficult too. The clearance rate is in the range of 16-18%, making it one of the most demanding tests that require critical thinking in addition to strong soft skills to crack the interviews.
Among these, Amrita is the better option. It follows a rigorous curriculum that is at the same level as IITs and top universities from around the world. The student crowd is competitive. Amrita has an amazing coding culture. It organizes Hackathons and coding competitions regularly.
If you are interested in a circuital branch-like CSE, EEE, ECE, AI, etc. you can get good placement opportunities. Amrita School of Engineering placements 2021 had an average CTC of INR 5.8 LPA, while the highest CTC offered was INR 56.95 LPA.
NIT Calicut stands among the top NITs where you will get a lot of exposure to extracurricular activities. As it’s a government college, the fees will be relatively low as compared to private universities like VIT Vellore.
On the other hand, VIT Vellore isn’t that great institute plus being a private institute the fees is quite high for most middle-class students. If you choose Mechanical here then you can go for two different paths.
Categories | Mechanical at NIT Calicut | CSE at VIT Vellore |
Course Fee | 5.48 lakhs | 7.83 lakhs |
Highest CTC | 20 LPA | 20 LPA |
Average CTC | 9 LPA | 6-8 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | L&T, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Tata Motors, etc. | Flipkart, Oracle, HP, Dell, etc. |
At last, it all depends on your interest and caliber to do well on various career paths. However, if you are inclined towards CSE only then VIT is quite a good option because placements are pretty good there for CSE. Some of the major recruiters include PayPal, Microsoft, Amazon, Morgan Stanley, etc.
Among SRM and Manipal University, the latter will be a better option. Manipal has a better peer group. The student-teacher ratio is good. Manipal offers excellent opportunities for personal and overall development. Manipal has a strong alumni network owing to its more than 60 years of existence.
Manipal University Jaipur placements are pretty good. For 2022 placement, the average CTC was around INR 7 LPA.
Manipal has a great research environment. There are also many clubs and societies that you can join.
Manipal University and SRM, Sonepat both are recognized by UGC and approved by AICTE. While Manipal University ranked 8th out of 200 in the list of Top Universities in India by NIRF rankings, SRM has not been assessed by the same. Whether one institution is better than the other is based on individual discretion. A conclusion must be drawn keeping factors like faculty, academic quality, personal disposition, and expectations in mind.
Here are a few factors that differentiate IIFT Delhi and IIFT Kolkata campuses.
As established earlier, the Delhi campus has its advantages, but IIFT Kolkata is striving hard to bridge the gap.
I would strongly assert that FMS is way ahead of XLRI. I have mentioned a few strong points that support my opinion. Before I begin, let me enlighten you on the fact that this answer is based on thorough research and reviews of graduates of respective B Schools.
Fees
Industry Acceptance
Placements
While both excel in placements, it’s the extremely low fees at FMS that make the ROI amazing.
Overall I would say that FMS is a clear winner when compared to XLRI
DU SOL is more commonly known to the students and also has an easier education structure. However, IGNOU is more student-friendly. The checking of exam papers is carried out systematically and IGNOU also provides better exam results than DU SOL.
IGNOU gives internal marks to the students for assignments.
IGNOU offers various UG and PG courses. Whereas, SOL offers only a few selected courses.
My friend opted for her BA in English from SOL, DU. She left SOL DU after a year because of SOL’s poor management system. She was allotted a study center and exam center which was around 25-30 km away from her home, making things difficult and inconvenient for her. When she switched to IGNOU she realized that the staff is very helpful and solved her admission discrepancies in the most friendly manner. She had the freedom to choose her regional center and her study center, and her exam center was near her home.
These are some more advantages of studying at IGNOU-
Thus, based on these advantages, you should opt for IGNOU over SOL DU for completing your degree.
IGNOU is believed to be better than SOL in so many ways. Some of them are mentioned below:
All of the approved programs are well-known.
Simple admission, re-admission, submission of examination forms, submission of assignments, and other processes. The majority of these can be completed online.
Nominal Charge.
Excellent study materials.
If you misplace your study materials, you can purchase them online from GPH, Neeraj, or another publishing house.
30% of the marks are for assignments, and the rest are for the exam. Because assignments are similar to examination question papers (i.e., sample question papers), you are also preparing for the examination while working on them.
Any query and doubts can be easily got answered by visiting study centers. For IGNOU students, each center has a coordinator and other staff.
Study centers can be found even in the most remote areas, and you can usually find one within 15 kilometers of your home.
IGNOU is also very flexible in that it allows students to complete their degrees in a reasonable amount of time. You are not required to complete all exams at once. It is possible to divide it into semesters. This will also aid in the removal of mental burdens.
