SD
Souvick Dasgupta Posted On : June 1st, 2022
M.Tech (Electronic Systems) from IIT Bombay

There are fewer placement opportunities available for IIT BHU MTech branches compared to BTech branches. Most MTech students apply for jobs through off campus placements. You can get placed in the IT sector if you have good coding skills. Companies recruiting core branch students are fewer in number. As per IIT BHU placement highlights the average CTC for most MTech branches is around INR 6-8 LPA.

Himadri Gupta Posted On : February 14th, 2022
Bachelor's in Technology from Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi

I have a few friends, who graduated from IIT BHU. One of them is an alumnus of the Chemical Engineering department. He speaks quite fondly about Prof. P. Ahuja. According to him, Pradeep Ahuja Sir is one of the best teachers, he got to learn from. During the MHRD meet of their department, most students selected Ahuja Sir as the best faculty member, unanimously.

My friends also talk about Prof O.N Singh from the Physics department, Prof. P.K. Mukharjee from ECE Prof V.V. Menon from the Applied Mathematics department.

B.Ed from Banaras Hindu University

IIT BHU and Banaras Hindu University are different institutes, though they share the same campus. The administration, management, and admission process everything is different for the institutes. Before becoming an IIT, IIT BHU used to be part of BHU. Now both are independent institutions. Like all IITs, IIT BHU is autonomous and makes its own decision regarding everything.

What does it feel like to be studying in IIT (BHU)?

OB
Oindrila Bose Posted On : June 15th, 2023
Studied at IIT BHU (2019)

IIT BHU is 15th in the NIRF India Rankings 2023: Engineering. It is one of the top engineering institutes in India with a healthy curriculum and an impressive placement record.

Apart from the statistical data, IIT BHU is an old and beautiful institution that is situated in the spiritual city of Varanasi. Varanasi is a small town and for those who wish to experience clubbing and party culture during their college days, this town does not have much to offer. But for those who wish to live the joys of a small town with narrow streets and amazing local culture, IIT BHU, and Varanasi is the place for you.

My brother studied Chemical Engineering at IIT BHU, and here are some of his views regarding life at IIT BHU:

  1. IIT BHU campus is integrated with the campus of BHU, making the total campus area more than 1300 acres filled with greenery. The greenery is very soothing and pleasant and has great benefits on mental and physical well-being
  2. On Saturday nights, all the students go to the Assi Ghat to let out their stress and sit peacefully, sipping tea
  3. The streets of Varanasi are lively and one can find amazing street food
  4. College clubs are very active. There are always different activities being held on campus. Fests and Star Nights create an atmosphere of fun
  5. IIT BHU students get the chance to mingle with the BHU students
  6. The  Vishwanathan temple is beautiful and a sight to behold
  7. The sports facilities are unbeatable. There are football pitch size grounds every 500 meters
  8. The infrastructure is not very developed. The buildings have an ancient touch to them, which is unique and beautiful, but the hostel rooms need a lot of improvement and need to get bigger. Overall, the infrastructure does need improvement

IIT BHU is an amazing place to learn, grow and make friends. It offers a plethora of opportunities to its students. You should consider IIT BHU.

What is the scope of Pharmaceutical Engineering from IIT (BHU)?

PG
Prajukta Ghose Posted On : June 11th, 2023
Studied at the Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi

Pharmaceutical Engineering is a branch of pharmaceutical science and technology under which the development and manufacturing of products, processes, and components in the pharmaceuticals industry take place. It is only recently that this subfield of pharmaceutical engineering has emerged as a desperate engineering discipline. It’s very important to stay updated with modifications in pharma as it helps you to adapt to change, avail new opportunities, and focus on developing futuristic skills. Basically, this discipline involves much more than just the composition and quality of drugs. It also focuses on engineering aspects of how a drug is produced. Here are a few points pertaining to its current scope in India

  • The core placements are very low given the fact that Pharmaceutical Engineering and Technology is more research-oriented and not job oriented.
  • The initial packages in core placements are very low in comparison to the IT sector but as time passes the payment gradually increases.
  •  If you feel your tug towards coding, then you are always free to opt for non-core Placements.
  • You will find many batchmates who identify their interests in coding, artificial intelligence, mechanics, data analytics, etc., and inculcate the skills necessary to pursue it.
  • The diverse clubs run by the students of IIT BHU make it easier to acquire skills relating to your passion.

The pharmaceutical engineering branch is growing at an exponential rate resulting in huge research opportunities guided by the most qualified professors.

Which is better: IIT Guwahati CSE or IIT BHU CSE?

SD
Sharad Dev Posted On : March 20th, 2023
B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IITG) (Graduated 2017)

Instead of recommending any specific institute, there are some myths that need to be debunked first:

  • Placements at one institute are better than the other.
  • BHU has a wider network.
  • IITG has a cooler administration.

You must compare the two courses based on the following features:

  • Academic research
  • Placement statistics
  • Competitive coding
  • Open-source development
  • Other club activities
  • Climate and geography
  • Connectivity (and distance from hometown)

If you're specifically interested in CSE, then the first four points are almost equal for both BHU and Guwahati. When it comes to the other points, IITG has a better climate, while Varanasi may be better connected and nearer to your hometown.

So, it's up to you to weigh the pros and cons and decide which institute suits you better. Remember to make an informed decision and choose wisely.

How is the placement of metallurgy in IIT BHU, Varanasi?

PM
Prashanth Mathur Posted On : August 14th, 2020
M.Tech Metallurgy & Materials Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi (2018)

The placement scenario of IIT-BHU metallurgical engineering is not as good as other branches but this is improving every year. More companies like Tata Steel, Tata Motors, and Saint Gobain are coming with job offers for B.Tech, IDD, and M.Tech students. The chances of getting placed are more for a B.Tech student than for an M.Tech student.

  • In the year 2016, 52 B.Tech, 16 IDD, and 10 M.Tech students registered for placement out of which 36 B.Tech, 11 IDD, and 1 M.Tech student secured jobs. The highest CTC was 13 LPA, the lowest CTC was 5 LPA and the average CTC was 7.78 LPA. These statistics have improved in successive years.

  • In the year 2019, 44 out of 47 registered students got placed and the average CTC was 9.67 LPA. This clearly shows that the percentage of students getting placed and the average package amount has improved over the years.

Moreover, not all students register for placement rather they prepare for other entrance examinations like CAT, GATE, GRE, UPSC, etc. The chances of clearing these entrance examinations are higher here than other IITs because one gets more free time in IIT-BHU and can spend more time in personal development. This will help them in grabbing good jobs even without registering for placements.

Some non-core companies also present job offers that are open to all branches. These recruiters only look for a particular set of skills that one can acquire through online courses in their free time. Thus there are many opportunities for the students and it depends on the student how he/she grabs the opportunity

Why is there a sudden rise in placements of IIT (BHU) Varanasi this year?

NA
Nishat Agarwal Posted On : February 15th, 2022
B.Tech. Metallurgy, Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi (2018)

IIT (BHU) Varanasi has maintained a stellar placement record over the years. Also in recent times, global MNCs have started to recognize Indian talents more and more. This is the reason behind the sudden influx in placement statistics for IIT BHU. Another reason is the student crowd of the college. Despite the poor infrastructure, IIT BHU still attracts brilliant students from all over the country.

The Training and Placement Office has a huge role to play behind the increased placement numbers too. The placement office work actively to invite recruiters and get best placement opportunities for the students.

What is the average package of the IIT BHU electrical? Is it a good choice at an AIR of 2145 in the JEE Advanced?

PG
Prajukta Ghose Posted On : June 15th, 2023
Studied at the Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi

IIT BHU Electrical's average package is around INR 26 LPA. The department observes a decent placement scenario with more than 98% of students getting placed every year. Out of these, 85% are placed in the non-coding sector. The institute does not release official data on branch-wise placements so I collected data from unofficial sources. Based on that, the highest salary package offered was around INR 66 LPA, the lowest was around 14 LPA, and the average was 26 LPA.

Top recruiters who recruited Electrical students are Microsoft, Amazon, Gravitron, BNY Mellon, etc. Some of the top roles offered are SDE, HFT, quantum computing, and data analysis. Almost all students got internships. My friend got an internship at Samsung, Delhi for 2 months.

As for the IIT BHU Electrical cutoff, it has been tabulated below

The placement scenario for Chemical Engineering students at IIT BHU is good. Although very few core companies from the field visit the campus placements. In the recent placement drive, the average CTC offered to the Chemical Engineering students was in the range of 15-17 LPA. Last year, the highest CTC offered to the branch was 38 LPA.
