The foremost and unfortunate thing that you being a day scholar of IIEST should know is that you are missing a lot on the most important part of college life.
And if you have planned to be a day scholar throughout college life, then you surely are going to regret this because hostel life is the most beautiful part of your engineering journey.
My best friend is currently a hosteller at IIEST Shibpur and according to him the biggest secret to real college life at IIEST begins at the end of your hectic lectures and labs. But if you are a day scholar, you’ll already be on your bus journey to your home and that’s it.
There are millions of ways for you to build your 4 or 5 years engineering career in the most enjoyable way but if you are a hosteller, then you can architect the life you are building according to your wish.
My friend and his peers believe the most enjoyable and incomparable part of college is spent within the boundaries of the college itself. And these are the boundaries within which there is no boundary to your fun and craziness which you won’t get to experience ever after.
Also, there are a lot of clubs in IIEST SHIBPUR like Litsoc, Robotics, CodeIIEST, etc. and the sessions for all the clubs are scheduled after classes i.e. after 5 pm. In case you want to indulge yourself in any of the club's activities seriously, you are supposed to attend the meetings and sessions which is not really impossible for day scholars but may seem a problematic task if your home is far from college.
Regarding the buses from B.garden, you will come to know the details in 2 days only because it’s easy to find the way home back.
All in all, don’t miss any chance of fun because this time will not come again.
Which is the better option, NIT JSR metallurgy or IIEST Shibpur metallurgy?
Having friends studying in both the colleges, It is suggested that you go for NIT Jamshedpur metallurgy would prove to be a better option because the placement records of the college are pretty good.

I'm studying aerospace engineering from IIEST Shibpur. What should I do to join ISRO? It is the only dream I have.
It is seen that usually, the exam conducted by ISRO, that is ICRB, takes students from the different branches of engineering that include electrical, electronics, and mechanical sections. So the exam syllabus is mostly based on these branches only.

Firstly you can apply for a mechanical branch while filling an application for the exam or you can pursue higher studies and then apply for the vacancies in ISRO. Which is better, NIT Surathkal for mechanical or IIEST Shibpur for CSE?
Both NIT Surathkal and IIEST Shibpur are amazing institutes and the departments of the mentioned branches are at their best. The deciding factor here is your branch of interest.
- If you are inclined towards Mechanical Engineering, you must opt for NITK. If you are more into coding IIEST must be your choice.
- Another factor to look for if you are not that specific about the branch to study is the institute's proximity to your home.
- The one which is easily accessible must be preferably your choice.
- Shibpur is very well connected to all major cities. Frequent industry visits are conducted.
- NITK Surathkal is located in Karnataka. Their campus is the best. They even have a beach surrounding its campus.
