Is mechanical or ECE better in NIT Calicut?
According to some of my friends studying at NIT Calicut, the ECE branch is better in placements than the Mechanical Engineering branch.
- The placement greatly depends on the Aptitude and Academic record of the candidate.
- The Teaching quality of both of these departments is not so good.
- The candidate needs to work by themselves. The faculty might not be cooperative.
- Other than just depending on library books, candidates can prepare by learning from the internet as per the syllabus.
- It is important to know that the departments are very strict about their attendance policy. 80% attendance is mandatory for all students.

Only of the bright thing at NIT Calicut is that the exams are conducted only from the taught portions of the professors and not the whole syllabus. The course curriculum is a bit old and not current industry-oriented. The campus life, facilities and hostels are good. Students here have a decent college life with less extravaganza.
Should I take mechanical engineering in IIT Bhubaneswar or in IIT Dhanbad?
In terms of pursuing mechanical engineering IIT Dhanbad would be the better option. Former is better IIT Dhanbad was established in 1926 whereas IIT Bhubaneswar came in 2008. In terms of placement, faculty, ranking, academic excellence IIT Dhanbad stays in upper hand. The reasons to choose IIT Dhanbad are as follows:
- Ranking and reputation: IIT Dhanbad ranked 17 among the best engineering schools in the nation in 2023, which reflects the academic excellence, facilities, professor strength, etc. of the institution.
- Faculty: All of the faculty members are intelligent and welcoming. They are extremely knowledgeable in their fields. Their course syllabus is appropriate for students who are interested in working in the core industry in the future.

IIT Dhanbad would be an excellent choice for mechanical engineering study, to sum up. With its well-established reputation since ages, qualified teachers, job prospects, and a campus that is well-equipped. It fosters an environment that is favorable for both academic and personal development.
Which college should I choose for mechanical engineering: SRM Sonepat or UPES?
If you are considering the main SRM campus, you don’t need to hesitate. The campus is quite good. The faculties might not be great, but there are departments where they are found to be standard.
The hostels however are not quite up to the mark, so you can opt to search for a PG. The student crowd is quite impressive. You will be among talented peers. Also, SRM has a standard placement record.
Additionally, the other bonus point is that this institute is one of the most known private universities all through India. VIT, Manipal, BITS being the other three, while Thapar RVCE and so on follow straightaway.

If you want to go for Mechanical Engineering, then you must go to SRM Sonepat. It is due to the fact that UPES is good basically for Petroleum, Aerospace Engineering and a few of the CS Branches, while SRM Sonepat can be a good choice for mechanical engineering.
How is a 5-year dual degree in mechanical engineering with manufacturing engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar?
By looking at the recent trends in the Indian Economy, it can be observed that there is a lack of opportunities for Mechanical Engineering students. The demand for Mechanical and Civil engineers has dropped down and the recruitment is usually in Non-core companies. Only students from Top-Tier colleges are placed in great companies where they move on to become managers.
About the 5-year Dual degree at IIT Bhubaneshwar, the student life is good there although there are strict rules and restrictions. The average package offered at this IIT was 11.44 LPA and the highest was around 39 LPA in last year’s placement drive. The college provides for a special internship program and a summer training program.
Hostel life is good and the hostel rooms are allotted on a single room occupant basis. The food provided is decent. Faculty are very well versed with their subjects and easily approachable as they come from different IITs. the sports facility is fine and many events also take place around the year. The Labs provided are modern but insufficient if compared to other old IIT’s.
I'm a third-year mechanical student from IIT Bhubaneswar. But my CGPA 6.9 . Is it possible to get an internship with this CGPA?
Yes, you can get internship opportunities with a CGPA of 6.9. In the past students of IIT Bhubaneswar got internships even with 6 CGPA. Companies that hire for internships usually sets the CGPA criteria to 6 or above. Other than CGPA, your skill sets will play a major role in getting an internship. So, focus on mastering different skills required by the MNCs.
How will you rank IIT Bhubaneswar, Indore, Jodhpur, Ropar, and Mandi for mechanical?
Rather than giving my own input, I’d rather rank them on the basis of official rankings done by esteemed ranking bodies.

How is a dual degree in mechanical engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar in comparison with NIT Surat (SVNIT) mechanical engineering?
I pursued my B.Tech Mechanical from SVNIT, thus, I can only comment on my college.
The faculty of the mechanical department is top notch. Majority of our teachers are highly driven. It is because of them that mechanical is the most famous branch of our college. Our teachers emphasize practical knowledge over mere theoretical understanding. Many of them have more than 10 years of experience in teaching. The department has enough professors, so very few courses are taken by TAs. The faculty is very helpful for projects and research work.
The curriculum for B.Tech Mechanical is very rich, and you’ll get to choose one elective per semester in the 3rd and 4th year. You can choose courses from other branches as well. You can choose management courses, programming courses, physics related courses, automobile courses, etc. SVNIT is probably the only college that teaches its students topics like Mechatronics, Computational fluid mechanics (CFD), Cryogenics, etc. at the UG level itself.
Unfortunately, like most other colleges, our practical syllabus and lab equipment needs to be upgraded. The labs do not contain equipment of the latest technology. The workshop contains all conventional and non conventional machines like lathe, shoper, milling, grinding, welding, abrasive jet machine, EDM, 3-D printer, etc.
As far as B.Tech Mechanical at SVNIT is concerned, I would say it is quite a decent option.
Is Dayanand Sagar College good for doing a B.E. in automobile engineering in 2022?
My friends and I decided to study automobiles, but due to the restricted number of institutions that offered the course, we decided to pursue mechanical engineering and then concentrate on automobile engineering for our master's degree. Hence, we studied Mechanical Engineering at Dayananda Sagar (DSCE), and then Automobile Engineering at the same university. So I think I am therefore competent to reply.
- If you're really interested in Automotive Engineering, then the campus is beautiful, and it's quite ideal for learning.
- In addition, automotive engineers will get IT jobs as well if we look at the placements.
- I would recommend you take the DSCE diploma and proceed to a Master's degree overseas.
- Yes, it is assuringly good for automobile engineering, but I would not recommend it.
- In general, automobile engineering is provided in very few institutions that reduce your possibilities.
- DSCE is one of the top automotive engineering colleges.
- You will find that you have a great learning space.
- I would recommend that you look at other options before finalizing automotive engineering.

The college is great simply to provide you with a degree, but it's your duty to earn it. In the last two years, very few reputed companies visited the college. Only your hard work will matter. The curriculum has been outdated until last year, but now they have updated it.
What was the average package of mechanical engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar in 2017?
The placement of IIT Bhubaneswar has never disappointed its students. There has always been an increase in the number of companies who visited IIT Bhubaneswar over years for hiring mechanical engineers. In 2017 almost 83% of students got placement from Mechanical Engineering. 32 out of 35 of Mechanical Engineering students got placed on campus with a decent package. The average package offered at IIT Bhubaneswar in 2017 was 10.52 lacs/annum. While the highest foreign CTC and highest domestic CTC offered were 38 LPA and 21 LPA respectively. PSU’s like ISRO, IOCL, BPCL, NCCBM participated in the campus drive. A total of 41 companies visited the campus during the placement season 2017.

The placement of IIT Bhubaneswar has never disappointed its students. In the 2017-18 placement season, a total of 83% of students were placed from the Mechanical engineering department. From the core industries, the highest number of jobs were offered like other years. The average job package offered at IIT Bhubaneswar in the 2017-2018 placement drive is 10 lacs/annum. While the highest domestic CTC offered was 21 LPA and the highest foreign CTC offered went up to 38 LPA. In 2017-18 the number of jobs offered increased compared to 2017. A total of 41 companies visited campus during the placement drive. Top recruiters included PSU’s like ISRO, IOCL, BPCL, NCCBM. Mechanical has always been one of the best department in IIT Bhubaneswar because of the great faculties they have from all around the world. Although other departments have shown a curve in their growth the mechanical department has always maintained an inclined curve of its placement.
