NIT Trichy Opens Ph.D. Admission 2024-25; Apply by December 9

National Institute of Technology, Trichy has released the admission schedule, eligibility criteria, and selection procedure for admissions to Ph.D. programs for A.Y. 2024-25. Candidates can apply for admission under Full-time and Part-time (Internal) categories.

NIT Trichy Ph.D 2024-25 Admission Schedule

Candidates have to submit the application fee of INR 1000 per department for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL and INR 500 per department for ST/SC/PwD categories. The application fee is non-refundable.

NIT Trichy Ph.D 2024-25 Admission Category

Candidates can take admission to the Ph.D. programme in two categories:

• Full-time

1. Half-time Research Assistantship (HTRA): Candidates must have a valid GATE score and are eligible to apply for Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF)
2. Externally Funded: Candidates should have a fellowship from UGC/CSIR/DST/DAE/NBHM etc. or Sponsored Research and Consultancy Projects with individual faculty.
3. Non-Stipendiary

• Part-time: In Service

1. Internal: Candidates must be a Research Scholar/ employee at the NIT Trichy Institute
2. External: Candidates must be on-campus Research Scholar or with an Industry/ Organisation with an R&D facility.

NIT Trichy Ph.D 2024-25 Admission Eligibility

• Candidates should have a minimum aggregate mark of 60% (GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL) or 55% (SC/ST/PwD) in both their UG and PG degrees.
• Candidates must also have a valid GATE or equivalent National-Level test score for Architecture, Sciences, Computer Application, Management and Humanities & Social Sciences.
• GATE score is not mandatory for HTRA candidates in Engineering and the non-stipendiary, project, and Part-time categories of all disciplines.
• Candidates without a valid GATE score have to appear for the National Level Ph.D. test conducted by NIT Trichy.

NIT Trichy Ph.D 2024-25 Selection Process

• Candidates will be selected based on the initial screening of the application, a written test, and performance in the interview/ counselling round conducted in offline/online mode.
• Candidates have to submit proof of Research Publication/ Research Proposal and Statement of Purpose.
• Part-time candidates must also submit an NOC, Sponsorship Certificate, or Certificate from an External Research Co-Supervisor/ Research Coordinator.
• Candidates selected for admission will have original document verification during physical reporting at NIT Trichy.

*Direct and Integrated Ph.D. admission will be conducted for the July 2025 session and do not apply to admission for the January 2025 session.
