New Delhi: According to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, National Forensic Science University (NFSU) will be opening nine more campuses across the country in a year. The announcement was made during the 5th International and 44th All India Criminology Conference of NFSU.
In his address, Amit Shah mentioned that after the establishment of these new campuses, there will be one campus available in every other state of the country. The inauguration of this conference was held when India’s Criminal Justice System was entering a new era. He also mentioned that India has abolished about 150-year-old original laws of criminal justice and introduced new laws.
It has become mandatory for a Forensic Science Officer to visit the Crime Scene for offenses which have a punishment of seven years or more. This move will make it easier for judges and will also make the prosecution simple. Efforts are also made to modernise the entire process. India’s Criminal Justice System will be the most modern in the world in five years, he added.

After immense hard work, the Ministry of Home Affairs has prepared many databases in the last five years and a lot of work is also being done on data integration.
