- Separate category-wise cutoff PDFs and counselling rank details may be released later during admission rounds.
- KCET rank is prepared using combined merit percentage calculated from board marks and entrance scores.
- Formula used by KEA is:
- PUC Percentage = (PCM Marks ÷ 300) × 100
- KCET Percentage = (KCET Marks ÷ 180) × 100
- Final Merit Score = (PUC % + KCET %) ÷ 2
- A 1 lakh KCET rank is considered low for competitive engineering admissions.
- Candidates may still get seats in some private colleges and less competitive branches.
- Counselling participation is still recommended for available seat options.
- Colleges like RVCE Bangalore, PES University, and MSRIT are known for strong placement records.
- Top branches such as CSE and AI often report near-100% placement in these institutes.
- Placement percentages vary every year depending on branch and market conditions.

The KCET 2026 Topper List will be released simultaneously with the result, stream-wise on the official KEA website. KEA publishes separate toppers for Engineering, Agriculture, Veterinary, Nursing, and BNYS streams. For reference, in 2025:
- Engineering topper scored 179/180 in the CET (maximum marks in PCM)
- Harishraj D V topped Nursing, Veterinary, and BNYS with a raw score of 179/180
- Sudarshan K was the only candidate to score 50/50 in the Kannada Language Test in 2025
For KCET 2026, the topper mark is expected to exceed 175/180, with the top 10 rank holders likely scoring above 175 marks.
The KCET 2026 rank is calculated on a 50:50 weightage basis: combining your CET exam score and your 2nd PUC board marks.
Here's how it works:
| Component | Weightage | Out Of |
|---|---|---|
| KCET Exam Score (PCM/PCB) | 50% | 180 |
| 2nd PUC / Class 12 Board Marks | 50% | 300 (standardised) |
| Combined Merit Percentage | (CET% + Board%) ÷ 2 | |
Example:
- If a student scores 150/180 in KCET (83.33%) and 280/300 in 2nd PUC (93.33%), their combined KCET merit score = (83.33 + 93.33) ÷ 2 = 88.33%.
- Separate ranks are released for Engineering, Agriculture, Veterinary, and Pharmacy streams.
| Expected Rank Range | Colleges You Can Target | Branch (CSE/AI) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 – 500 | RV College of Engineering (RVCE), BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE), PES University | CSE / AI & ML |
| 500 – 2,000 | MSRIT, DSCE, PESIT South Campus | CSE / ECE |
| 2,000 – 5,000 | JSS STU, BIT Bangalore, KLETU Hubli | CSE / ISE / ECE |
| 5,000 – 10,000 | SJCE Mysuru, UVCE Bengaluru, BMSIT & M | ECE / Mechanical |
| Above 10,000 | Mid-tier private colleges across Karnataka | Civil / Mechanical / EEE |

The KCET 2026 Scorecard / Rank Card will be a downloadable PDF containing the following key information:
| Field | Details |
|---|---|
| Candidate Name | As registered in the application form |
| CET Application Number | Unique registration ID |
| Subject-wise CET Marks | Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics / Biology (out of 60 each = 180 total) |
| 2nd PUC / QE Marks | Standardised marks from board exam (50% weightage) |
| Kannada Language Test Marks | Only for Horanadu & Gadinadu Kannadigas (qualifying test) |
| Overall KCET Rank | Merit rank for Engineering / Agriculture / Pharma / Veterinary |
| Category Rank | Rank within the candidate's reservation category (SC/ST/OBC/GM) |
| Qualifying Status | Qualified / Not Qualified |
| Reservation Details | Rural / Kannada Medium / Special Category flags |
The KCET 2026 rank is calculated on a 50:50 weightage basis : combining your CET exam score and your 2nd PUC board marks.
KEA does not set a fixed minimum score for KCET, but here are the key qualifying thresholds candidates must be aware of:
| Category | Minimum CET Marks (out of 180) | Minimum 2nd PUC % |
|---|---|---|
| General / GM | No minimum set by KEA | 45% aggregate |
| SC / ST / OBC | No minimum set by KEA | 40% aggregate |
| Horanadu & Gadinadu Kannadigas | Minimum 12/50 in Language Test | 45% |
Note: Admission cutoff (closing rank per college/branch) is entirely different from qualifying cutoff and is released after counselling. For CSE at top colleges like RVCE, the expected closing rank is under 500 for General category in 2026.
