IIT Mandi Partners with DRDL Hyderabad, NIT Uttarakhand, and SLIET for Academic and Research Excellence

New Delhi: IIT Mandi has collaborated with Defense Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) Hyderabad, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Uttarakhand, and Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET) to foster academic excellence and cutting-edge research.

According to IIT Mandi Registrar, Sambhav Pandey, this partnership will focus on academic and research collaboration, with the agreements geared towards boosting faculty and student exchanges. The objective is to nurture increased collaboration and broaden the institute's influence.

IIT Mandi Agreement with DRDL Hyderabad

As per the agreement, IIT Mandi will recognize DRDL as an affiliated research center. In addition to this, it will facilitate off-campus PhD and MTech (research) enrollments for individuals chosen by DRDL. 

Scientists and engineering officers of DRDL have the opportunity to apply as external candidates or part-time doctoral students at IIT Mandi on the basis of their qualifications and merit. 

Candidates who are pursuing their higher education at IIT Mandi will be able to undertake MTech and PhD projects, and dissertations at DRDL in defence-related fields. Additionally, students will have the flexibility to conduct a segment of their research at DRDL.

IIT Mandi Agreement with NIT Uttarakhand

As a part of this collaboration, the BTech students of NIT Uttarakhand will get the opportunity to take courses at IIT Mandi. The students will also be considered for early admission to PhD program at the institute without the need to qualify for GATE or any other national-level examination.

IIT Mandi Agreement with SLIET

IIT Mandi has taken an initiative with SLIET to enable collaborative supervision of PhD students, joint organisation of workshops and seminars, and the promotion of student and faculty exchange programs. This step is taken with the aim of sharing academic knowledge between the two institutions.

These partnerships are initially established for a five-year term and hold the possibility of extension upon mutual agreement by both collaborating institutions.
