IIT Kharagpur Emerges as the Winner of EY Techathon 4.0; First Runner Up IIM Lucknow

The winning team from IIT Kharagpur named Matrix showcased a creatively crafted Gen AI solution named SKY.

IIT Kharagpur Emerges as the Winner of EY Techathon

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has won the 'Techathon 4.0: Re-imagining the future with Generative AI' organised by EY. The winning team from IIT Kharagpur named as Team Matrix consisted of Arpit Raj, Debansh Assawa, Kshitij Bhaskar, and Rakesh Tarendra from the institute. 

The Team Matrix showcased a creatively crafted Gen AI solution named SKY. It aims to revolutionizing the retail industry by forecasting sales, pricing items, and optimizing product placement, among other features.

The winning team was also awarded a cash prize of INR 3,00,000. Each of the Runner up teams received INR 2,00,000 cash prize. All the winning teams were given mentorship from EY Leadership to develop strategic solutions for global enterprises.

The runner-up position was a tie between teams from IIM Lucknow, Suit Up (Anushri Ganguly, Shubham Patel, and Srishty Ruhela) and Ishanrahman03 (Adarsh Kaviraj, Akash Anand, Ishan Rahman, Rishith R Shetty, and Tanish Mathur) from RV College of Engineering Bengaluru, for their exemplary work in developing Gen AI solutions to solve real-world challenges in media and BFSI sectors respectively.

EY had launched a new category of award from Techathon 4.0 named ‘People’s Choice Award’. The Team MaviriX (Laukik Sharma, SRCC Delhi, Shivam Goel, IIT Kharagpur, and Vidhi Verma, JSSATE Noida) grabbed this prize. The team garnered a maximum number of votes from individuals and tech enthusiasts nationwide, who cast their votes for their most preferred entries in the competition.

With over 1,25,000 registrations, the competition attracted more than 7,000 team submissions from colleges across the country. This year's EY Techathon 4.0 saw participants developing Gen AI-based solutions to tackle real-world challenges in sectors such as Healthcare, Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI), Education, Retail, and Media & Entertainment (M&E).

This year’s winners and all finalists demonstrated not only great passion for learning an emerging technology like Generative AI but also applying it to come up with solutions that can have a positive impact on different sections of the society.”
