IIT Kharagpur and Ericsson Collaborate for AI, Compute and Radio Tech Research

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur has collaborated with Ericsson to conduct research in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Computing, and Radio Technology. The moto behind the partnership is to combine the efforts of researchers from both entities to advance 6G research

The project between IIT Kharagpur and Ericsson aims to explore casual AI methods to join communication and sensing technologies and also to explore resource optimization, sustainable distribution, dynamic observability, and Edge computing technologies. Leaders from both entities have participated in the symposium conducted by GS Sanyal School of Telecommunications (GSSST) on Ratio and Netwotk research to discuss the developments and advancements in networks and communication.

Aim Behind the IIT Kharagpur and Ericsson Collaboration

The director of IIT Kharagpur Faculty says, “In the commitment towards Digital India and making the country hub of technological innovation, this partnership will be effective for net-gen technology significantly. In the era of 6G, IIT Kharagpur aims to contribute towards Radio Access Technology and Networks, VLSI Design, Services and Applications, and Core Networks. This research collaboration in fundamental areas as well as translational research will be transformational for Future Network Platforms.”

Ericsson's 6G networks rely on AI and computing research since the policies would mostly be driven by AI and the compute offload must be controlled dynamically at the edge. These research topics are in line with those of IIT Kharagpur, and both institutions see this collaboration as a means of expanding the frontiers of basic and applied radio research.
