According to the earlier land layout plan, there are about 30 acres of land available which was divided into six plots. There were three plots of 6 acres each, one plot of 2.5 acres, one plot of 3 acres, and a 9-acre plot. But the administration now plans to allocate all the available land between the two institutes.

“Currently, there are around 30 acres available in Edu City We are considering allocating a sizable area of this available land to these institutions so that can have large campuses and offer world-class educational facilities in the city,” said Pal.

All the allotted land has been shared between the two institutes, now the project will finally see the light of the day. Being a government institute, the UT is examining the case for not requiring an auction to be held for the allotment of land. At inception, the project was to come up on 150 acres.

“In 2009, the UT had shortlisted nine players and only three had signed the agreement for the project. The institutes were selected on the basis of recommendations of an expert committee which was appointed by the administration. The committee had cleared six players in the first phase and three players in the second phase for setting up campuses.”
