CAT 2023 Records All Time High Registration of 3.3 Lakh

New Delhi: The Common Admission Test (CAT) has recorded all-time high registrations for the 2023 exam. As per the data, a total of 3.3 lakh candidates have submitted their applications for CAT 2023 Registration, which is a 30% increase from last year’s 2.5 lakh registrations.

CAT 2023 Convener Prof Sanjeet Singh of IIM Lucknow said, "Registrations this year are the highest in the history of CAT, ever since it was started in 1977. In fact, it never touched the 3-lakh mark before. In absolute numbers, an increase of 75,000 applications, year-on-year, is a record in itself”.

For CAT 2023, out of a total of 3.3 lakh applications, 1.17 lakh (38%) candidates are female. CAT has recorded an increase of 3% in female registrations for this year. Last year, a total of 2.5 lakh candidates registered for CAT, which was 11% higher than the previous year.

Following the CAT 2023 Dates, the registration window for CAT 2023 closed on September 21, 2023 (at 11:00 AM). Candidates who have registered for the exam can make corrections in their application form through the CAT correction window, which will open anytime soon for 3-4 days.

The CAT 2023 exam is scheduled to be held on November 26, 2023. The exam will be held for a duration of 2 hours, covering a total of 66 questions. The CAT 2023 question paper will be divided into three sections, namely VARC, DILR, and Quantitative Aptitude.

Speaking on the registration data, Prof Sanjeet Singh said, “I believe increased publicity about CAT on social media platforms, and adding more test cities, with an increase in the exam centres, particularly in tier-II cities, have resulted in highest-ever registration”.

“Till 2008, CAT was a pen and paper test; that year around 2.9 lakh applicants had registered which was the previous highest number of registrations. The first computer-based test was held in 2009.” he further added.
