What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Guidance for education and a great life ahead”

To make my students technically sound and competitive by delivering recent knowledge and skills along with best theoretical studies is my prime role in figuring students’ future. I guide and mentor them for future education and career opportunities and provide them the best platforms for their overall development. Also, I make them aware about social responsibility and moral dignity.

What are the best practices offered to help students gain necessary skills?

“Certification and training programs and collaboration with national bodies”

Other than the syllabus designed by MSBTE Mumbai, Mechanical engineering department, we also provide a short term training course on Creo-parametric and a certification course on two wheeler service technician. Every year our department organizes National level/state level technical events where students get a good platform to build their skills. Our department has installed the student chapter of The Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) running various activities that give them innovative exposure and practical knowledge.

How do you try to bring a practical approach towards subjects?

“Maintaining the gap between industries and academic circles”

As I am working in a Polytechnic Institute, it is more of a practical oriented course and we try our level best to teach maximum concepts by practical approaches only. We are trying to connect our labs to concern industries by arranging industry visits, expert lectures, workshops, technical events and seminars.

How does the department enhance the skills of the faculty?

“Periodical training and upgradation of knowledge and skills”

Faculties are the pillars of our institute. They are young, dynamic and very cooperative to the students as well as to the management. We need to train them and upgrade their skills for better output. Timely, our faculties get one week industrial training in reputed industries and expertise in the field through online/offline orientation. Our department organizes faculty development programs and short term training programs to get them updated with knowledge from industry and academic experts.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

“Participation, interaction and value creation”

I maintain a healthy relation with students by boosting their confidence level and by reducing the personal distance. I treat all the members of my institution equal, without any bias or favouritism. We maintain a healthy relation with our colleagues by supporting each other and also by sharing knowledge. Once every semester, we arrange a personality development program and training program where each student gets close to our staff and interacts positively with each other as well.

What valuable advice would you like to give to the students?

“Be curious and use your availabilities mindfully”

The only advice is they should be curious about learning new things, asking questions and finding innovative solutions about new things. Another thing is students should learn to use all the resources available to them effectively to make their future shine bright.
