Dr. A.J. Joshua is a Principal and Director of Marthoma College of Management and Technology. He did his B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics from TKM College of Engineering and master’s with a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the School of Management, Pondicherry Central University. He also holds a PhD in management from the School of Management Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology. Dr. Joshua is an active participant in research and has published numerous papers at seminars and conferences. He published an e-book and possesses outstanding work experience spanning more than 26 years in the field of management education. He additionally got the Best faculty award in 2019 from the Federal Institute of Science and Technology.

Being the director what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

My management style is generally inclusive, and I frequently seek advice from stakeholders before making selections. I believe in coming to answers and solutions in a collaborative manner. However, while a situation demands it, I am able to make impartial decisions to pressure progress on my own.


Being the director how do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school?

As the director, I strategize the key programs, specifically for the MBA program, by designing them to move past the usual syllabus. We contain applicable accessories and enterprise-specific schooling to beautify students’ employability. We put all of this together to better prepare our students for the job market.


How does the curriculum ensure the best practice of industry?

The curriculum ensures the best practice of the industry by integrating various components, such as relevant case studies, interactions with industry professionals, and internships at reputable companies. This approach helps bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the University and the students are?

I believe my primary responsibility is towards the students, as the university’s existence hinges on their success. The university’s programs must be distinct and compelling to attract and nurture top talent. It also ensures both student achievement and the institution’s continued excellence.


What do you see as the greatest strengths?

I see my greatest strength as the ability to coordinate effectively with everyone, including supervisors, subordinates, and peers. This fosters strong team spirit and enhances our collective ability to achieve our goals.


What are some of the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and specifically?

One of the biggest demanding situations for higher education is the trend of college students opting for overseas universities. Our educational establishments to raise their requirements to an international stage, making sure that they can compete internationally and hold top talent in our country.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

I encourage the current youth and aspiring students to maintain a positive attitude and commit to hard work. Set goals and work strategically towards them. These qualities will open doors to countless opportunities and take you far in life.
