Cheran Arts And Science College

Being the Principal, how do you manage to ensure a healthy atmosphere in college and good relationships among students and staff members?

In my opinion, students who are connected to CASC are more likely to succeed, because we have a better and digitally enabled classroom environment. And students who attend classes with higher emotional support are more likely to exert more effort to understand difficult concepts. Building these relationships require perspectives that embrace positive attitudes and beliefs, cultural and linguistic competence and an understanding of the needs and experiences of students and an understanding of the higher education environment.

What are the driving forces that keep you interested in and connected to the educational sector?

The main factors behind my association is the wonderful digital era where we have a pool of talented and young minds to interact with and learn from, and then being in the education sector also helps me to explore new topics and areas. And this in return helps me to deliver best quality knowledge and guidance to my students. Also we have experienced Teachers Scholars to exchange and share knowledge with each other. So overall, the knowledge and satisfaction I receive are the biggest reason behind my so long association with the education sector.

In your opinion, how can generational gaps be addressed and bridged between students?

I firmly believe that the generational gaps can be bridged by encouraging students to work in multi-generations teams, establishing cultural and linguistic values in students and teachers, advancing the technological environment around us and educating previous generations values and contribution to build a modern society. Apart from this, we new few new approaches as well to unite people.

What strategies do you use to help and motivate students to succeed in such a cut-throat competitive world?

Our college has created a highly motivating and innovative learning environment for students and we never forget to cherish their small and big achievements. Apart from this, we regularly encourage them to develop their skills and engage themselves in team activities, to not take failures so serious as the substitute of life, to take risks and experiment with their ideas by assigning purposeful, complicated and challenging tasks to them.

What actions does the institute take to enhance the competencies and upgrade knowledge of its faculty members?

We are providing a systematic process to deliver lectures to students on a daily basis and have adopted innovative teaching methodologies which suit the needs of all students because everyone is unique, hence should be treated and educated in the same way. And to upgrade the skills and knowledge of our faculty members, we regularly organize faculty development programs and training sessions.

What do you consider as the greatest strengths of your institute?

Our Campus is situated in 36 acres of land and has natural scenic beauty all around it and most importantly we are delivering the education services from the past 3 decades. And if I talk about the other infrastructure facilities, so we do have a wifi less campus, high tech lab environment in Computer Science, Biochemistry, and Electronics Departments, digitized Library with more than 20000 volumes of book, beautiful and effective Hostel atmosphere for both men and women, good sports place for indoor games and huge grounds to play Cricket, Basketball and Football ground and lastly Cultural and Fine Arts Societies to organize events and activities on a regular basis. In addition to this, we are offering higher education to economically weaker sections situated in 100 KM radius, have good learning space for students and also provide placement oriented training sessions to youths on a regular basis. And I believe all these factors together make us strong, resilient and unique in comparison to others.

What obstacles have you experienced while raising the educational standards of your college?

There are many challenges actually which we have faced till date while uplifting the educational standards and quality of our college and the most prominent is that we struggle to get the qualified faculties for each subject and making lectures more lively and effective by ensuring full participation of students is also a challenge. In addition to this, providing a high tech lab facility with wifi free campus and incorporating modern technology based infra in college is also a difficult challenge for us. Lastly, developing smart classrooms and providing coaching to students for central and state government exams, motivating students to focus towards their studies and extracurricular activities as well and maintaining transparency in students assessment standards is also a roadblock for us while upgrading the educational practices and standards of our college.

Any valuable suggestions which you would like to give to the students who want to thrive in their careers?

I would like to advise my dear students and ambitious youths of our society to develop in depth understanding and knowledge of their fundamental concepts and subjects and do the internationally accepted certifications as well and especially in IT Field. Be curious, develop analytical skills, use your creativity in whatever work you do and try to attempt exams of IELTS, TOFEL, and Business Analytics for enhancing your oral and written communication. Last but not the least, try your best to be a job giver, an Entrepreneur and use your knowledge and experience and work collaboratively to discover the solution for real world issues.

What approaches can be employed, in your opinion, to make subjects and courses more practical and industry-focused?

I firmly believe that for the purpose of implementing a practical and industry oriented approach towards subjects, we must conduct experiments and also do research projects. And regular communication with industry experts, professionals and leaders would also be of great help as we can directly get updates about their latest developments, trends, requirements and standards and apply the same in our subjects and course curriculum.

Which extracurricular activities are organized in Cheran College to help students develop their skills?

Our college has a diverse range of Cultural and Fine Arts Clubs to organize cultural fests and other activities like Dance and Song events and competitions on a regular basis. Apart from this, sports events and fun games are also conducted from time to time to give a platform to students to showcase and enhance their skills. Last but not the least, we have implemented the National Service Scheme and NCC for boys and girls.

What would you consider to be the most difficult challenges that the higher education sector is facing at present?

As far as roadblocks and difficulties are concerned, the online education system has created a lot of hurdles for higher education sector, because students attend their classes from anywhere and at any time, things are far different and in person interaction with their faculty members is zero, which ultimately gets reflected in their academic results or behavior. Apart from this, collecting funds to continue education and the long education process is certainly a struggle at students' ends. Last but not the least, the need of quick adaptation to ever changing industry standards and then incorporating right technologies and business models in courses is also a difficulty which institutions need to address and fix on an earliest basis.
