Prof. KS Verma is the Vice Chancellor at Career Point University, Hamirpur. Dr Verma is an accomplished scientist, teacher and an administrator.He is a multi-faceted academic and administrator having vast experience (33 years) in managing higher education in professional Universities. With his vast experience in the educational field, here is what he has to say about it in his interview. 

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

“The end result of education is to scale the skill sets and make student employable”

I have a firm belief that education should serve its purpose. It should be learning-centric. The result must meet the desired goals, i.e., to enhance the student's skill sets and make them employable. CPUH & I believe that students should be connected to the learning environment & process, regardless of the student being at the campus, or their home. Also, our faculties as researchers need to be in the lab in liaison with the stakeholders.

How do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school?

“Our aim is to enable the aspiring minds to become suitable for different verticals”

Career Point University, Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh), is an upcoming higher learning institution that started in 2012. We emphasize on quality research as it is an integral part of our education system. Students are free to opt for research-based degree programs of study. University adopts a student-centric approach with full social fencing and mentoring to face the world of science and business. Research programs that connect academic knowledge to the local community, natural resources, and innovations that occur outside academia are in focus.

“CPU is industry ready and keeps the curriculum updated in liaison with the industry standards. We have constituted academia- industry council and as per the industry requirements, we integrate the changes in the course curriculum.” 

How has your vision evolved over time? What implementations have you carried out?

“The vision is to make education available to all students who can build a prosperous society ahead”

With time we started focusing on research and development and have tied up with various Universities inland and overseas. So far, the university has signed 17 MoUs with public and private sector establishments of National and International repute to train our students to face the challenges of the future world. We have also tied up with e-learning platforms like Coursera offering advanced courses from various universities worldwide. More than 2500 students have enrolled in the courses.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

“Students must be lucid with their goals and trace path to achieve them” 

Students need to evaluate their aspirations. They should focus on acquiring and learning new skills. Also, passing on the values that they have learned is essential. They should think of giving back to society. I believe that knowledge is to be acquired wherever you find it or whoever it may lie with, regardless of whether it is a private or a government University.

How do you tend to establish a healthy relation and environment in your institute/University?
