VJIM Organises its 29th Convocation

The 29th Convocation of Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management (VJIM) was held at the VJIM auditorium, Bachupally, Hyderabad on Friday, the 24th of November.

The Chief Guest for the convocation was the Director General DRDO, Hyderabad, Sri. U. Raja Babu and the guest of honor was Dr. Vishal Gupta, Professor, IIM Ahmedabad. The other personages present on the occasion were the President Vignana Jyothi Sri Daggubati Suresh Babu, Secretary, Sri. J. Seshagiri Rao, Chairman VJIM, Sri K. Harishchandra Prasad, Vice-president Vignana Jyothi Sri Kode Durga Prasad IPS Retd., members General Council Vignana Jyothi Sri G. Krishna Prasad and Sri Harish Cherukuri.

A total of 134 students of the 29th batch VJIM graduated in the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM).

The master of the ceremony was the Dean Academics Dr. Nalluri Padmaja accompanied by Faculty Finance Dr. Vishal Kutchu. The convocation began with a ceremonial march into the auditorium by the dignitaries escorted by the VJIM faculty. The program was initiated by illuminating the ritual lamp followed by an invocation by the VJIM girl students.

 The Director of the institute Prof. Dr. P. Srinivasa Subba Rao delivered the annual report where he brought to focus the academic accomplishments, the faculty and learning resources, and the aspirations for the future. According to Prof Subba Rao, VJIM is currently ranked 32nd amongst the Top 100 B Schools in India and 8th top B School in South India in the Times of India B School Survey 2023, 12th Top Private B-schools -South zone, 2nd in Hyderabad as per the Outlook magazine and 64th Top Private B-schools overall, 21st (South India) as per the Week magazine. The Director also highlighted VJIM’s recent MoU with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) Bangkok that marks a significant step in international collaboration. In addition, VJIM is a signatory to the UN Principles for Responsible Management Education whose mission is to transform management education and prepare the responsible decision-makers for tomorrow to advance sustainable development. To promote the spirit of sustainability VJIM has announced the VJIM ALUMNI SUSTAINABILITY AWARD. 

VJIM is approved by AICTE & accredited by South Asian Quality Systems (SAQS). Its PGDM program is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and is equivalent to MBA (as per AIU declaration). 

The Director emphasized that the PGDM Programs of VJIM are structured on four formidable pillars represented by an acronym: “STEEL” that stands for- i) Sustainability, ii) Technology, iii) Entrepreneurship & Employability, and iv) Leadership. “We are among the very few institutions in the country that have these four pillars integrated into our academic DNA,” said Prof. Subba Rao.

In his Presidential address, Sri Suresh Babu brought to light to the passing out students that one should be able to balance success and failure in life with equanimity and that empathy and compassion make us better human beings.

The guest of honor Dr. Vishal Gupta illustrated the significance of goal setting and training with dedication by drawing analogies to the life of Arjuna from the epic Mahabharata. The chief guest Dr. U. raja Babu in his convocation address mentioned that education is a continuous process, and it doesn’t terminate on acquiring a degree or certificate. If an individual doesn’t update one’s knowledge and skills adapting to the innovations and transformations, the reality is, such a person becomes obsolete. Citing the example of digital disruption that happened with the advent of the mobile phone, Sri Raja Rao cautioned the graduands about the risk of complacency in their career.

The medal winners included the topper of the batch Kadiyala Madhumita, Musunuri Bhavana, Manjusha Juluri, Kodavati Bhavitha Lakshmi, Sunanda Mudunuri, Kashish Ram Jetwalani, M S B Manohar, Kirthika Budumuru, Sunkara Sravana Sandhya, and Abhishek Pathangi.

The auditorium was brimming with parents, family members and friends of the graduating students. The convocation culminated by the rendition of the national anthem.


VJIM Hyderabad Collaborates with Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand for an Innovative Student Mobility Programme

HYDERABAD, 3rd October 2023: Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management (VJIM), Hyderabad has entered into a strategic collaboration with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand. The partnership, focusing on student mobility, promises an enriching learning experience where students will interact with global academic and industry pioneers. The programme aims to provide insights from business hubs known for their innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. 

The President Sri D. Suresh Babu and General Secretary Er. J S Rao of Vignan Group of Institutions and Chairman Sri K. Harishchandra Prasad of VJIM have congratulated the VJIM and AIT team to develop this unique strategic partnership starting with sending VJIM students for global immersion programme to AIT Thailand. 

Commencing on 1st October and culminating on 15th October, the programme will see participation from 25 students and two faculty members from VJIM, Hyderabad. Prof Srinivas Subbarao, the Director of VJIM highlighted the importance of this tie-up between the two esteemed institutions which will pave the way for comprehensive student, faculty, and academic exchanges in the future. Adding to the programme's global perspective, professors from eight different countries will be imparting knowledge and expertise to the participating students. 

The program promises a dynamic blend of interactive lectures and hands-on sessions that are designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience. Participants will delve into cutting-edge topics such as ChatGPT & Generative AI Techniques, understanding the ramifications of Technological Disruption and strategies to manage its impact on businesses. They will also explore the potentials of Leveraging Fintech while gaining insights into the nexus of Food, Energy, and Water. 

In addition to the enriching lectures and sessions, the program is complemented with a range of additional activities to ensure a holistic experience. There's a unique cultural immersion opportunity with a special field trip planned to the UNESCO World Heritage Historical City of Ayutthaya, allowing participants to appreciate global heritage and history. Networking remains a cornerstone of this program, offering students unparalleled opportunities to connect with global peers and industry stalwarts. Furthermore, a series of field visits are on the agenda, taking participants behind the scenes of some of the most prominent industries and offering a firsthand look at cutting-edge research centers. This blend of academic and experiential learning is sure to provide participants with a multifaceted understanding of contemporary business landscapes.

Prof (Dr.) P. Srinivas Subbarao takes charge as Director of VJIM

Prof (Dr.) P. Srinivas Subbarao, is an award-winning management educator, researcher and institution builder. Prof Subbarao was selected for the highly prestigious Leadership for Academicians Programme (LEAP, 2019-2020) Fellowship of Ministry of HRD, Govt of India. As part of this fellowship, he was trained in academic leadership at IIT Kharagpur & the University of Cambridge. In January 2020 the University of Bristol invited him to deliver a talk on challenges and opportunities in developing a campus startup culture.

Prof Subbarao is currently the Dean & Director, School of Management,(SoM) at Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University and a Professor of Entrepreneurship and International Business. Earlier, he was the Dean, Faculty of Management Studies, Sri Sri University, and CEO of SSU Innovation Pvt. Ltd. Also he worked as the Registrar and the Dean of Student Welfare (DSW) at Sri Sri University.

In his last 26 years of academic life, he has developed cutting-edge experience and expertise in teaching management, conducting inter-disciplinary research in business studies, and building academic centers and institutions in areas of innovation, climate change, sustainability, indigenous studies, and peacebuilding. He has also a unique distinction of being a scholar-practitioner who brings in his experience of entrepreneurship to mentor students in developing new ventures. He has so far mentored more than 50 startups in India and has been credited to have developed a nascent startup culture in the last five years.
