BHU Receives 312 Enrollments from Foreign Students, Highest Registrations from Nepal

New Delhi: BHU has received registrations from 312 new international students from 30 different countries in the academic session 2023-2024. This surge brings the total number of enrolled international students to a high of 734, representing 49 nations, a remarkable first-time achievement surpassing the 300 mark for international admissions.

Highlighting that BHU has reaffirmed its position as one of the top choices for international students seeking higher education in India, the university, in a statement, said: “The highest number of new entrants is from Nepal, with 155 students enrolling in various programs, 85 students from Bangladesh, 11 from Sri Lanka and 10 from Myanmar.”

Breaking down the recent admissions, the incoming cohort comprises 172 undergraduates, 112 postgraduates, 16 pursuing doctoral courses, and 12 enrolled in certificate or diploma courses.

Of the 312 newcomers, 253 students fall under the self-financed category, while 49 received sponsorship from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). Additionally, four gained admission through EdCIL, and six were facilitated by the Study in India program.

BHU offers accommodation to about 600 international students. The under-constructed new international girls hostel will offer an additional capacity of 400. The university emphasized its commitment to facilitating a seamless and stress-free admission process for international students. The dedicated international center is actively engaged in promptly addressing queries and resolving challenges encountered by both applicants and enrolled students.

This year, the university has partnered with EdCIL (a PSU under the Ministry of Education) and the Government of India's SII initiatives. BHU highlighted that these collaborations foster increased engagement of foreign nationals in the university's admission processes.
