Banaras Hindu University will award degrees to graduates from various departments and colleges on the 103rd convocation. Ajay Kumar Sood, National Science Chair Professor at IISc Bangalore will attend the event as Chief Guest.
New Delhi: Banaras Hindu University (BHU is gearing up for a momentous occasion as it prepares to host its 103rd convocation ceremony on December 16, 2023. The convocation will commence at 9:30 am at Swatantrata Bhawan.
BHU's convocation ceremonies are not just about conferring degrees; they embody the spirit of the institution's commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals. During this occasion, gold medals for the academic session 2022-23 will be distributed.
BHU 103rd Convocation Highlights
At the convocation, degrees will be conferred upon graduates from various departments and colleges. Ajay Kumar Sood, who holds positions as the Chairman of the Prime Minister's Science, Technology, and Innovation Advisory Council and as National Science Chair Professor at IISc Bangalore, will deliver the convocation address.
He has been honoured with various awards recognizing his contributions to academics and scientific research, notably including the Padma Shri. His accolades also encompass Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize, GD Birla Award for Scientific Research, Millennium Gold Medal from Indian Science Congress Association, the Sir C V Raman Award from UGC, and Homi Bhabha Medal from Indian National Science Academy.

During the previous year, a total of 37,896 students were granted degrees, while 91 students were awarded medals for their outstanding academic performance.
The BHU gold medals for the sessions 2019-20, 2020-21, and 2021-22 were presented at the 102nd convocation ceremony, which took place after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the current year, BHU has restructured its career guidance, placement, training, student well-being, and skill development cells to enhance both placements and the overall wellness of students. The goal of these cells is to offer counselling, mentorship, and necessary skills training, focusing on the mental and psychological well-being of students.
