Andhra University to Launch M.Tech Program for Navy Technical Officers

New Delhi: Andhra University is now all set to launch a regular MTech program for Indian Navy technical officers in various areas of engineering. As per the university, the navy technical officers will be awarded with an MTech degree after the successful completion of the course. 

As per Andhra University, the MTech program will be open to all navy technical officers who are interested to pursue their education in engineering. The course will include classes on the university campus as well as technical training sessions.

Informing about the Andhra University Coursethe official stated that the technical officers will join the campus and attend their classes for two semesters and balance the two semesters at naval technical establishments for dissertation work. 

Andhra University MTech Course will be launched under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Naval Education Director, Caption Edwin Jyothi, and Commander P Manorama from Indian Navy Headquarters and Andhra University. 

The MoU was signed on June 23, 2022, at a meeting held in New Delhi. During the meeting, the Navy Officials met with Vice-Chancellor Professor PVGD Prasad Reddy and Academic Advisor-defense joint education and research program Dr. Ujjwal Kumar Ghatak to discuss the process of offering MTech courses.

Speaking on this occasion, Captain Edwin stated that this is the first time the Indian Navy has decided to come forward and send their technical officers to university to pursue a program. The soon-to-be-launched MTech Program of Andhra University will help officers in various aspects. 

“While they will spend one year on the AU campus, the officers will be on-job students in their own establishments in the second year. The Navy will also be able to utilize the technical expertise of this personnel,” said Captain Edwin.

As of now, the university offers its MTech program in over 30 specializations including Mineral Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electronics And Instrumentation Engineering, Information Technology, Biotechnology and Control Engineering, etc. 

The MTech Course is open for candidates with B. E, BTech or its equivalent degree in a required field from a recognised university or institute. The selection of applicants for this course is done based on marks secured in the qualifying entrance examination, AP PGECET.
