Ahmedabad University Opens PhD Admissions 2027 Winter Session; Check Last Date to Apply

Ahmedabad University has opened Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) admissions for Winter 2027. The announcement is live on the official portal ahduni.edu.in. Candidates can submit online applications until November 22, 2026.

Ahmedabad University PhD application window opened on September 14, 2026. The intake covers three schools of Ahmedabad University (AU). These are Arts and Sciences, Engineering and Applied Science, and Management.

Ahmedabad University PhD Winter 2027 Important Dates

Eligibility Criteria

Rules vary by school and candidate background. The School of Arts and Sciences requires a Master's degree in Arts or Sciences with a minimum of 55 percent marks or an equivalent grade.

Candidates with a four-year Bachelor's degree and at least 75 percent marks may also apply. Such candidates are initially admitted as predoctoral candidates and become doctoral candidates after completing the required academic requirements.

The School of Engineering and Applied Science also requires a Master's degree with at least 55 percent marks or an equivalent grade. Candidates with a four-year Bachelor's degree with at least 75 percent marks are also eligible through the predoctoral route.

The Amrut Mody School of Management requires a Master's degree in any discipline with at least 55 percent marks or an equivalent grade. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree may also apply, but they will need to complete additional coursework.

Ahmedabad University PhD Fees and Financial Support

Full-time doctoral scholars get a complete tuition fee waiver. The university also offers two monthly stipend schemes for selected candidates.

Part-time PhD scholars pay Rs 24,000 per semester as tuition. Part-time candidates must complete the same course requirements as full-time scholars, and there is no provision for online classes. Course credits must be completed through in-person attendance.

Schools and Disciplines on Offer

The School of Arts and Sciences offers doctoral programmes in Interdisciplinary Humanities and Social Sciences, Mathematical and Computational Sciences, Biological and Life Sciences, and Physics.

The School of Engineering and Applied Science offers a doctoral programme in Engineering and Applied Science. The programme is interdisciplinary and includes research collaborations across multiple themes.

The Amrut Mody School of Management offers an interdisciplinary PhD programme in Management. Research areas include environment and sustainability, finance and econometrics, behavioural decision-making, marketing, organisational dynamics, and operations and supply chain management.

How to Apply for the Ahmedabad University PhD Programme?

Candidates must apply through the online doctoral admission portal. The university does not accept offline or postal forms.

Scanned marksheets, degree certificates, and a statement of purpose are required. Each school may ask for additional documents during the selection process.

Shortlisted candidates may have to appear for a written test followed by personal interaction. For the School of Engineering and Applied Science and Amrut Mody School of Management, the entrance test and personal interactions are scheduled for December 10, 2026. The final admission decision will be announced on December 16, 2026.
