Course Curriculum

8

  • My course is very difficult, as it's mostly focused on research. And it's always theoretical apart from the final semester. You get to dive into practical stuff only in the final project, and that too only if you choose a group project apart from this.
  • Every day, on average, I would have 2 classes, which are 2 hours each.
  • I have around 150 students in my course. Among them, around 60 -70 are Indians.

Admission Experience

  • I had applied to 2 colleges: one in weimer Germany and the other was UCD. I got rejected from a German university. I think when I was applying for a German university, my portfolio wasn't fully ready. That might be the main reason for rejection because my course requires some kind of portfolio work for evaluation. Because my grade was really good, and I also had 2.5 years of experience in the same field.
  • UCD was the best option for me because of my specific course.
  • Admission process was fairly straightforward, the steps being application, submission of my works and portfolio and my bachelor's degree grade.
  • At least a 6.5 IELTS score and each section should have a minimum of 6 bands.
  • As mentioned above, the admission process was fairly simple, but they didn't mention we had to submit attested hard copies, so it was difficult to submit them once for college.
  • September intake. Because that was the only intake available for my course at this university.
  • Admission process took around 5 months.
  • I applied in the month of February; I got an acceptance letter in may so I only had 2 months to prepare for my VISA . Once I got the acceptance letter i had to fill out all the information and give them the visa status from time to time. University always followed up with this process to make sure Visa was being prioritized.

Faculty

10

  • Each class we would have 1 professor and 3 assistant professors. So the quality was very high. Every student's query was attended to in a timely manner.
  • Teaching methods are based on practical situations in the current time. Although it is not sufficient to prepare me for securing a job, it's very important.
  • No, faculty members do not assist in securing jobs, especially part-time. As for the full time, they will address any queries and they will help you how to improve your skills.

Campus Life

10

  • My College has two huge campuses: one is belfield the other is the Smurfit campus in BlackRock.
  • Every facility one could imagine: a gym, a swimming pool, various sports grounds, a library, medical facilities for both physical and mental health, and a student center.
  • Events like webinars, health screenings, memorial events, fitness events, science events and conferences.
  • Most of the extracurricular activities take place in clubs, as students can enroll in one. There are a lot of clubs and fun activities.

Part Time Jobs

  • Depends on what we take on in the final semester because those positions are mostly filled by students who want to pursue Phd and took a thesis in the final semester.
  • If I'm not wrong, the TA receives 25000 euros. 40 hours a week is the standard for full-time working hours. 20 is for part-time.
  • Very difficult because the undergraduate students are prioritized, as a master's degree is for one year.
  • Around 70 % secure part-time jobs pay hourly. It is really difficult to find a part-time job. Creating a specific CV for a specific role is very important. Then handing them out in person is a tedious process. People can use indeed or irishjobs but mostly for full-time, because for part-time opportunities you rarely get replies from them. Attending interviews can vary; if it's a physical job, then it's mostly trials and how well you do in those can decide if you can land the job or not.

Placement

8

  • According to last year's stats, around 90 % secured a job or Phd positions to study further; the average salary is around 50 - 60k euros.
  • University Student job boards, linkedin and indeed are the most preferred ways to find a job.
  • Placements have not yet started, as we are in our final semester.
  • At job fairs we have a lot of Major MNC showing up to hire students for internships or full-time positions.

Accommodation

Off Campus
8

  • I used a third-party website to find accommodation, like daft. My monthly rent is 700 euros plus bills. It includes heating systems, a desk bed, cupboards, and a shared kitchen and bathroom.
  • It's really hard to find one because of the number of students last year.
  • Yes, if Students want to secure accommodation, it's better to plan as early as possible. Because at the last moment the prices get skyrocketed.
  • It takes me 2 hours to get to College from my accommodation.

Exams

  • IELTS or any other accepted english proficiency exam.
  • Statement of Purpose, LOR , CV , PORTFOLIO, previous College grades , work experience letter if you have one.
  • I personally did not have any interview for the admission.
  • But it recommended showcasing some of your works to get into the college. The admission is majorly based on how good your previous work is.

Fees

  • Fees in total sum up to 35000 euros (14000 euros in college fees, including the scholarship provided my university)
  • It's flexible; we can pay in installments or in one go. Some pay semester-wise; some pay at the start of the semester. This course is one year.
  • In my case it is around 1000 - 1350 euros a month, including rent transportation and regular expenses.

Scholarship

  • Yes, I got the scholarship from the college. I don't really know the eligibility criteria because they don't mention it.
  • 8000 euros was a scholarship provided by the college, which directly gets added to college fees
  • I don't really know how many students have gotten it, but most of the Indian students in my class have received it, but in varied amounts.
  • Typically it's around 5000 or 5500 euros.
