What Students Say
Likes
- • It’s in Dublin , Ireland which is hub for most pharmaceutical companies. • Only English speaking country in Europe • good QS ranking globally and prestigious • Good reviews for Biotechnology • offers scholarships"
- UCD holds a special place in my heart. My enrolment at the prestigious university has given me innumerable and memorable experiences to cherish. It’s accepting of all cultures, had a supporting environment and a lovely lake with beautiful swans and ducks.
- They organise student international trips with discounted prices which is worth trying out. They also have multiple cultural forums that you can take part in. That also offer scholarships for students.
Dislikes
- I don’t particularly dislike anything about my university. If I have to choose with a hard thought, then it will be something like distance from the centre. It’s quite on the outskirts. Also, college fees is on the higher level so it can be reduced.
Required Exams for Admission
Incredible.
Course Curriculum
Overall the Biotechnology course structure was good. It was basic but we had application classes and good facilities. They also take you to NIBERT for industrial experience. You get a choice of internship or Project in 3rd semester. Has very good internship opportunities which can absorb you for full time employment.
Faculty
I can never forget and always grateful for all the help and guidance that I received from Dr. Patrick Caffrey who was my guide for 3rd sem microbiology project work.
Campus Life
Everything great. I don’t have anything to complain. UCD organizes multiple cultural programs and hubs and student internal trips which is student friendly. Have easy access to libraries.
Placement
UCD offers very good placement opportunities. You will get internship opportunity in your 3rd sem, which when you perform well, you can get absorbed into the company as full time employee. Companies like Medtronic, Resmed, MSD, GSK, Thermofisher scientific offer internship opportunities. I was lucky to get direct employment at Viatris ( Former Mylan) before my graduation.
Accommodation
I had booked student accommodation at the UCD student accommodation apartments - Belgrove Residences. They have about 4 kinds of residences for international students. We have to book about 5 months prior to grab a place in the apartment m. Usually, they will club people form different cultures into one house.
Exams
UCD had admission requirements. TOEFL, IELTS, GRE were all accepted. For IELTS , the checkin score was 6.5. My IELTS score was 7.0. For admission, I had to submit SOP and also a written essay on my internships. In SOP , we can mention - • about yourself, family • why you want to enroll at this university • why you want to choose this particular course • why this location • highlights about the university, it’s courses and lectures
