- I received good reviews from my seniors at the university and also because for the scope of research and how cost effective the education was in Germany.,
- Located in a quaint little city, It offered a pleasant living experience with multicultural and enriching academic environment. Many master's a programs at the University of Bonn are offered in English, increasing accessibility for international students like me. I found it really helpful that the university provided support services like orientation programs, language courses, and assistance with administrative processes when I started. The research institutes are well funded and the Professors are very approachable and supportive. The city is well connected with transport system and it was easier to commute.
- Dislikes:
- Majority of university related news will be communicated in German only. That was a little hard for me especially at the beginning. Germany itself is not very digital oriented. So still the university uses fax and paper communication which I found very taxing and time consuming.
Placement:
After graduating, students have to look jobs on their own. I was offered a PhD position in the lab that I did my masters thesis. I was paid approx 23000 euros per year.
Internship:
One of my Professors referred me for a internship at Max Planck Institute at Jena. it was an unpaid internship.

- The course was a perfect fit because I was planning to enter and shift from wet-lab to computational field. It mostly focuses on computer science, AI and ML. I went through the module catalog of the program and understood which courses will be taught.,
- "- International group and support from the community - Organized and student friendly department/professors - Straight-forward application process (without need of application fee) - Public Transportation facility for entire state within student ID"
- Dislikes:
- "- Less support during the pandemic - Slow/rigid decisions on conduction of online-classes during pandemic - Hard housing crisis and no support from university in this regard. Students have to find their own accommodation in a new city/country without uni's help."
Placement:
Post study- most students prefer PhD or go into data science jobs. The opportunities are good since machine learning / computer skills are taught in the program.
Internship:
It is common to do a student job, along side studies for financial support. Similarly, I applied for a part-time job through LinkedIn.

- Considering the fact that Germany is one of the best country for high quality education and research with very less expenses. Also UniBonn has a very good reputation and stands among top 100-150 universities in the world.
Placement:
I'm not sure of placement opportunities on campus as that is not my interest. But there are plenty of research opportunities after your masters. The course curriculum makes you ready to take up a PhD.
Internship:
I'm working in University Hospital Bonn and for short term internships, we don't get paid in universities here. But if we join for master's thesis, then we might get paid. It is quite simple to apply for an internship. Find a lab that interests you, contact the scientist through email and explain your motivation behind applying to them with a nice cover letter and CV.

- "It is one of top universities for the department. I was impressed with course work and the faculty and how widespread it was. Germany has loads of public universities with good coursework and minimal fees. ",
- The course work is very course intensive. It brings some discipline to your life. Which would be required to get everything done. The professors are top of the field. Since it is a collection of various institutions, a wide exposure in the field is provided
- Dislikes:
- The course is so intensive that it might get a little difficult to keep up sometimes, specially for people from non computer backgrounds. It gets very difficult to question the authority of professors or administration. Specially if you are not an EU citizen.
Placement:
A lot of students opt of ph.ds after the masters course. But yes jobs are still available with a profile of Bioinformatician, or research scientist and similar labels.
It is a bit hectic. If you dont have a financial support. You have to do a part-time. But as I said the course is very intensive and takes a lot of discipline to get across. Luckily i have found friends who help me get through this.
Placement:
I cannot answer this question as I could not complete the course due to personal and global reasons. I would think placements would be good enough, especially for a career in research.
I did not go through any education consultant. I just shortlisted a few universities that I thought were providing good education in Germany and checked out their individual application procedures. The Bonn Cologne Graduate School of Physics and Astronomy was one of them, under the University of Bonn and Cologne. I was selected in all four or five Universities I had applied to, and BCGS seemed to be the best choice to opt for.
