Factors That Affect SRMJEEE 2026 Cutoff
- Number of candidates: More candidates means tighter competition — closing ranks for popular branches become stricter as total registrations grow.
- Paper difficulty: A harder paper lowers raw scores across the board, which can shift closing ranks for competitive branches.
- Seat intake: Total seats per campus and branch directly determine how far down the rank list admissions extend.
- Candidate preferences: CSE, AI & ML, and Data Science attract the most applicants each year, so their closing ranks tend to be the lowest — meaning only top rankers secure these branches.
- Number of counselling rounds: If Phase 1 Round 1 leaves unfilled seats, they carry over to Round 2 and subsequent phases, sometimes making ranks accessible to a wider pool.
SRMJEEE 2026 Counselling Process
SRMJEEE 2026 counselling is conducted online by SRMIST for all qualified candidates. The process includes choice filling, seat allotment, fee payment, and online reporting. Phase 1 counselling is complete (Round 2 allotment declared June 2, 2026). Phase 2 counselling is expected in late June 2026, following the same process.
SRMJEEE 2026 Counselling Steps
- Step 1 – Log In to Counselling Portal: After the result is declared, log in at the official SRMIST admissions portal using your rank card credentials.
- Step 2 – Choice Filling: Fill in your preferred campus and branch choices in order of preference. You can list up to 20 combinations of campus and branch. Think carefully before submitting — choices drive your seat allotment.
- Step 3 – Seat Allotment: Seats are allotted based on your SRMJEEE rank, your filled preferences, and available seats. Allotment results are published online within a few days of choice filling closing.
- Step 4 – Fee Payment to Confirm Seat: If you receive an allotment, pay the counselling fee within the specified deadline. The total fee at this stage is Rs. 1,10,000. Missing this deadline means your seat is forfeited.
- Step 5 – Remaining Tuition Fee: Pay the remaining annual tuition fee balance by the deadline set by SRMIST (for Phase 1 Round 2 this was June 15, 2026 at 11:00 PM).
- Step 6 – Document Verification and Reporting: Submit scanned copies of required documents online and report physically to your allotted campus before the academic session begins.

SRMJEEE 2026 Preparation Tips
SRMJEEE 2026 is an NCERT-based exam with no negative marking. Since there is no penalty for wrong answers, you must attempt all 130 questions. Here are the most effective preparation strategies for Phase 2 (June 10–15) and Phase 3 (July 4–5).
Subject-wise Preparation Strategy
- Physics: Mechanics (Laws of Motion, Work-Energy Theorem), Electrostatics, and Optics are high-scoring areas in SRMJEEE. Practise numericals from HC Verma (Volumes 1 and 2). NCERT theory is essential for conceptual MCQs. Do not ignore Modern Physics — it usually has 4–5 questions every year.
- Chemistry: Organic Chemistry (named reactions, reaction mechanisms) and Physical Chemistry (Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Electrochemistry) carry the most marks. Read NCERT Chemistry Parts 1 and 2 of both Class 11 and 12 completely. Inorganic Chemistry from NCERT is usually sufficient without additional references.
- Mathematics: Calculus (Differentiation, Integration, Differential Equations) and Coordinate Geometry together account for more than 50% of the Mathematics section. Practise a minimum of 30 problems per day from these areas. Use RD Sharma or NCERT Exemplar for extra practice. Algebra (Matrices, Probability, Binomial Theorem) is also important and relatively scoring.
- English and Aptitude: This section requires the least preparation time but is highly scoring. Practise reading comprehension passages and basic grammar rules for 30 minutes daily. For aptitude, focus on number series, coding-decoding, and data interpretation problems.
General Tips for SRMJEEE 2026
- Finish NCERT Class 11 and 12 textbooks first — SRMJEEE follows NCERT closely across all subjects.
- Take at least two full-length mock tests per week. SRMIST releases an official mock test before each phase — use it to get familiar with the interface and time yourself.
- Since there is no negative marking, never leave any question unanswered. Use the last 10 minutes to go back and attempt all skipped questions.
- Manage your time well — 150 minutes for 130 questions gives you around 69 seconds per question. Do not spend more than 90 seconds on any one problem.
- Test your internet connection, webcam function, and system settings at least one day before your Phase 2 exam date. Technical problems on exam day cost you time you cannot recover.
- If you scored below 70 in Phase 1, use Phase 2 to specifically target the subject where you lost the most marks. SRMJEEE repeats similar topic distributions every phase.

Ans. SRMJEEE 2026 rank is calculated based on your total marks out of 130 after applying score normalisation. Since the exam runs over multiple days and sessions, SRMIST normalises scores to adjust for difficulty differences. The normalised score determines your All India Rank (AIR). If you appear in multiple phases, your best normalised rank across all phases is used for counselling.
