NIOS Class 12 April/May session result has been declared on June 22. You can check your results from the official website, results.nios.ac.in. You can also check via SMS- just type NIOS12_Roll Number and send it at 5676750.
The registration window for the October/November session is open till July 6, 2024. The fee per subject is kept at INR 300 with INR 150 extra for those with practicals. Note that there are four ways to register for the exam, i.e., self-registration, study centers, regional centers, and Common Service Centers (CSC).
- Those who appeared in the April/May session exam can expect their results in June 2024
- The period for submission of NIOS class 12 application form with a late fee of INR 150 is from July 7 to July 16, 2024
- The overall pass percentage of NIOS class 12th students is recorded at 64.43% for the October session exam of the previous year
As per eligibility criteria, your age should be no less than 15 years and you must have passed your secondary education from an accredited institution. Now, some of you might ask “Do colleges accept NIOS scores?” Almost every college in India considers NIOS scores like other boards for admission purposes.
NIOS class 12 public examination is conducted twice every year. The first session is conducted in April-May and the second session is held from October-November. The subjects in NIOS class 12th are divided into six groups. Out of this, Group A includes language subjects and other groups consist of Science, Commerce, Humanities, and other subjects. As per NIOS class 12th exam pattern, you need to choose a total of 5 subjects taking atleast one or two subjects from Group A or the language group.
“Can I join NIOS if failed in 12th?” This is where NIOS board plays a vital role. Here you have the flexibility to appear for the same or make a different choice of subjects. Also, there is an On Demand Examination (ODE) system, which lets you take your exam whenever you are ready. There is also a system of transferring credits of the best two subject marks from your previously appeared board.
“Is NIOS harder than CBSE?” This is one of the common questions of various NIOS exam-appearing students. The difficulty matters in how you exactly prepare for the examination. In NIOS, you are getting a range of subject combinations, which are made keeping in mind various colleges’ unique course requirements. However, as per all previous years’ records, we can say that NIOS board does not make any students unhappy.
The results after NIOS public examinations are released within 7 weeks from the last test date. The board releases the results of the April session exam in July and the October session exam in December. Your Marks Statement cum Certificate will be available at your respective regional centers. You are also allowed to appear for an improvement exam only for a single time. For subjects with practicals, appearing in both theory and practical examinations is mandatory. The better of the two will be indicated on the marksheet.
Why Should I Choose NIOS?
There are ample reasons for choosing NIOS board in class 10th or 12th. One of the main reasons for this is flexibility. There is flexibility regarding:
- You are given the option to choose the subject combination of your own. There are diversified subjects from which you can choose.
- There is flexibility in taking admission from the Study Centre, Facilitation Centre, Regional Centre
- The main examination is conducted twice each year. Also, nine examination chances are offered in five years, to let you take your examination whenever you are ready.

What is the Date of NIOS Class 12 Exam 2024?

Who is Eligible for NIOS Class 12 Exam 2024?
The NIOS Board mandated class 12 public exam eligibility criteria. First and foremost, you must have completed your Class 10th from a recognized board. As per the age limit, it should be no less than 15 years. Meeting the aforementioned criteria, you can appear for the Stream- I, Block-II October session examination.
NIOS Class 12th Registration Process 2024
As said earlier, the board allows you to register any of the four methods, i.e., self-registration, study centers, 23 designated regional centers, and Common Service Centers. Out of all these, the majority of candidates opt for the self-registration process. Here, we have elucidated the self-registration process in steps. First and foremost, you need to download the information brochure for the current year and the checklist of subjects and their admission requirements. From the Academic option at the Admission menu, click on Stream 1 (April 2025) option. You should provide name, parent’s name, gender, date of birth, mobile number, and email ID for OTP verification. Upload required documents wherever necessary and pay the registration fees.
What Documents are Required for NIOS Class 12th Registration Process?
List of documents the board mentioned on their prospectus for NIOS Class 12th registration process is as follows:
- Your recent passport-sized colored photograph and signature (preferably in black ink)
- Valid Identity Proof (Aadhaar Card or Ration card or Passport, etc.)
- Valid Date of Birth Proof (eg: Aadhaar Card with DOB printed on it in dd/mm/yyyy format, Birth Certificate)
- Valid Proof of Residence (eg: Aadhaar Card with complete address printed on it, valid Passport)
- Address Proof (eg: Aadhar Card/Water Bill/Electricity Bill/Voter ID/Ration Card/Indian Passport etc.)
- Class 8th mark sheet (required for Secondary Course), Class 10th mark sheet (required for Senior Secondary Course)
- Self- attested Caste Certificate (required for SC/ST/OBC candidates)
- Ex-serviceman Certificate (required for Ex-serviceman Candidates)

How to Download NIOS Class 12 Exam 2024 Admit Card?
Prior to the release of admit cards, you will also get the Student Identity Card which confirms your admission in class 12th. NIOS class 12th admit cards can be downloaded from the portal, sdmis.nios.ac.in by providing the enrolment number and selecting the hall ticket type (for theory/practical exam). Your admi card won’t be available if you have not uploaded your photograph while filling up the application form.

NIOS class 12th or senior secondary examination is conducted for a total of 31 subjects. Each subjects are divided within Group A-F. NIOS Class 12th Rechecking and Re-Evaluation
Post-declaration of results, there will be the provision of rechecking and re-evaluation of answer scripts. Both of them are separate processes, and the registration process for them starts immediately along with the publication of results. The time given to send for rechecking and re-evaluation of results is 15 days.
NIOS Class 12th Rechecking of Results
Candidates can send NIOS Class 12th results for rechecking by making a payment of INR 300. The rechecking requests are accepted till 15 days from the date of publication of results. Some important rules related to NIOS Class 12th rechecking of results are as follows:
- You can apply for theory papers only
- The fees paid for rechecking of results will not be refunded
- The board shall revise the marks statement in respect of the previous marks statement returned by the candidate
- During the process, the answer scripts are checked for any unmarked answers
- At this time, verifying whether marks are correctly transferred to the title page of the answer booklet and the award list is checked
NIOS Class 12th Re-Evaluation
Post-completion of the rechecking process, candidates can apply for re-evaluation of answer scripts. The fees required for re-evaluation of answer scripts is INR 500. The re-evaluation process undergo the following things:
- The entire answer sheet of the student will be evaluated again.
- New marks will be awarded to candidates only if there is an increase of 5% or more marks after revaluation.
- If the change in marks is less than 5% of the maximum marks, the new marks will be awarded only if the candidate can pass with those marks (with or without grace marks).
- If the marks after revaluation are less than the original marks, the original marks will be considered for the final result.
NIOS Class 12th Improvement of Marks
There is a provision appearing in any one of the subjects for improvement. The improvement exam can be appeared only once by students. For subject having practicals, you need to appear in both theory and practical examinations. The better of the two results will be considered and mentioned on your marksheet. The board releases the registration form for the improvement exam, the same as the main examination.

Ans. To explain this, I can use an example of one of my friend. He fell into the same situation, however his marks in the language part was good. When we went to our nearest NIOS center, they said my friend can transfer his credits of any two subjects from his existing board. This will be transferred on their new NIOS class 12th certificate, and the current board certificate will not be validated anymore. Henceforth, he transferred the marks obtained in language subjects, Bengali and English and appeared in 3 more examination to make it a total 5 subjects.

The registration process for NIOS Class XII exam 2023 has been closed now. The deadline to submit your registration form for NIOS October-November 2023 exam was July 2023 with a late fee.
It is not possible for you to apply for B.Sc. Science after having a Commerce background. The minimum eligibility for applying for admission to B.Sc. Science is to complete 10+2 with Science subjects only.
