GMAT Exam Syllabus Section

GMAT Syllabus has undergone the latest changes in the GMAT Exam Pattern. Data Insights is the new section of GMAT test syllabus that consists of 20 questions. On July 1, 2024, “GMAT” is transitioning back to using the name “GMAT Exam”. The change of names does not change its exam structure, scoring, content, and test features. You must explore the question type of GMAT syllabus and what skills are to be measured to ace each section. Here given below is the section-wise division of the syllabus for GMAT:

GMAT Quantitative Reasoning Syllabus

GMAT Quantitative Syllabus no longer includes Data sufficiency sections. The 21 questions of GMAT Quantitative syllabus are based on Arithmetic and Algebra which is to be completed in 45 minutes. Calculator is prohibited while cracking sums of GMAT maths syllabus. You must have a solid grasp of basic maths principles and concepts to succeed in this section. You must approach each problem of GMAT mathematics syllabus methodically and logically.

• For Arithmetic section, go through powers and roots of numbers, decimals, fractions, ratios and proportions, percentages, sets, and discrete probability.
• Algebra sections are based on inequalities, equations, functions and exponents, and absolute value.
• Solve for algebraic expressions or numeric values to get the right answer.

GMAT Verbal Reasoning Syllabus

GMAT Verbal Syllabus is modified and includes Critical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension questions. GMAT examination pattern includes 23 challenging passages and arguments in Verbal section. You will need to analyze and interpret the passages within a 45-minute time limit.

• In the Reading Comprehension section of GMAT Verbal, you have to decipher a passage (up to 350 words) by answering questions based on the context.
• In GMAT Critical Reasoning, you have to give argument construction and formulate a plan of action based on passages.
• GMAT Critical Reasoning questions come in the form of short reading passages, typically under 100 words.
• The passages are accompanied by a question that requires you to identify which of the five answer options strengthens or weakens an argument, identifies flaws in the argument, or provides strong support or damages the argument.
• Answering these GMAT verbal syllabus questions does not require specialized knowledge of the subject.

GMAT Data Insights Syllabus

Data Insights GMAT syllabus will assess your ability to analyze and leverage data for real-world business applications. In this section, you will get 20 questions to be completed in 45 minutes. In this section, you have to interpret graphics, solve multi-source reasoning, assess data sufficiency, analyze tables, and tackle GMAT two-part analysis tasks. For solving these problems, you can take the help of an on-screen calculator.

• In Data Sufficiency section, you have to solve a quantitative problem. You have to find out the relevant data to support the problem.
• In Multi-Source Reasoning section, you have to analyze data from multiple sources. This can include tables, text passages, graphics, or combination of the three.
• Table Analysis section checks your efficiency in examining a data table like spreadsheet. Here, you have to find out which information goes with the problem.
• For Graphics Interpretation, you have to interpret a graph or graphical image (x/y graph, scatter plot, bar chart, or pie chart) to give solutions.
• In Two-Part Analysis section, you have to solve complex problems related to quantitative, verbal or both combinations. You have to solve equations and evaluate trade-offs.
