The University of Utah fees for Indian students vary by study level and programme, requiring separate undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) budgets. Since tuition rates differ by course and credit load, applicants should check programme-specific costs, particularly for the MS in Computer Science, before estimating their total study expenses.

At the University of Utah, university housing refers to accommodation managed by the institution, while private housing includes independently rented apartments or shared homes. The university’s official immigration cost estimate includes housing and food, but room availability, lease duration, and upfront housing payments should be confirmed before finalising a budget.

  • Acceptance Rate:  90.14% (2025-26)
  • Intakes: Fall (primary), Spring, Summer
  • PG Tuition & Fees 2026-27: USD 31,106 / year (INR 29.36 lakhs)

Currency note: All INR figures in this article use USD 1 = INR 94.37, the live rate on 22 Oct 2026

University of Utah Tuition Fees by Programme

For 2026-27, the University of Utah uses different tuition schedules depending on the programme and department. Indian students should calculate engineering and David Eccles School of Business fees separately from general tuition estimates to get a more accurate cost of study.

University of Utah Postgraduate Fees

The 15 December 2026 deadline applies to the specified Fall 2027 computing application timeline, but it does not determine tuition fees. A reliable MS in Computer Science cost estimate requires programme-specific tuition rates, total credits, and course duration, as general graduate immigration estimates are insufficient to calculate the full degree cost.

University of Utah Scholarships for Indian Students

The University of Utah’s central merit scholarships have eligibility restrictions for international students, so Indian applicants should review award-specific rules before applying. Although 1 December 2026 appears as a freshman merit scholarship deadline for Fall 2027, meeting the deadline does not guarantee eligibility; departmental funding and graduate assistantships follow separate criteria.

University of Utah Departmental Funding: Computing

Funding for master’s students in computing at the University of Utah is limited, and financial assistance is not guaranteed. Teaching and research assistantships depend on departmental availability and eligibility, so applicants should confirm whether opportunities are open to incoming students, particularly during their first year.

Funding route Support and eligibility Fall 2027 status and notes
Teaching Assistantship (TA) USD 10,750 (INR 1.01 lakhs) per semester for a 20-hour appointment. Available to selected master’s students Departmental opportunity, not an admission entitlement. Computing admission closes 15 December 2026; appointment deadline pending.
Research Assistantship (RA) Paid work with a faculty research group. No single published stipend for MS students Faculty-dependent opportunity. Target-intake appointment deadline pending.

External Scholarships Open to Eligible

The International Peace Scholarship (IPS) provides eligible international women pursuing graduate studies with funding of up to USD 12,500 (INR 11.79 lakhs). However, the award is a partial funding option and may not cover the full cost of tuition, accommodation, and other study-related expenses.

Award Indian eligibility and support Status, deadline and intake
Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.) International Peace Scholarship (IPS) Indian women pursuing an advanced degree may qualify. Need-based support up to USD 12,500 (INR 11.79 lakhs) Open for 2027/28 study. Eligibility form: 15 December 2026. New graduate applicants: completed materials by 15 March 2027

Tip for Indian Students: Women planning graduate study at the University of Utah for 2027-28 should verify the eligibility criteria and submit the IPS eligibility form by 15 December 2026, if applicable. Submitting a scholarship application does not guarantee funding; recipients must receive formal award confirmation.

Salt Lake City Cost of Living

The University of Utah USD 19,198 (INR 18.25 lakh) for housing and food in its 2026-27 immigration budget. This figure is an academic-year planning benchmark, not a live accommodation quote; monthly private-rent costs should be calculated separately, with health insurance and other living expenses listed as distinct categories.

Expense Monthly (USD) Monthly (INR)
Housing & Food USD 1,600 INR 1.51 lakhs
Personal & Miscellaneous USD 750 INR 70,793
Health Insurance USD 250 INR 23,597
Books & Course Materials USD 133 INR 12,554
Total (Monthly) USD 2,733 INR 2.57 lakhs
Total (Annually) USD 32,796 INR 30.95 lakhs

University of Utah Total Cost of Studying

The total cost of studying at the University of Utah includes tuition, university fees, housing, food, health insurance, and other living expenses. The university’s I-20 financial estimate helps international students demonstrate sufficient funds for visa documentation, but it should not be treated as the final programme-specific bill.

Level Annual Tuition & Fees (USD) Annual Tuition & Fees (INR lakh)
Undergraduate (non-resident) USD 32,932 + USD 32,796 INR 62.03 lakhs
Master’s (general rate) USD 31,106 + USD 32,796 INR 60.31 lakhs
Doctorate USD 20,439 + USD 32,796 INR 50.24 lakhs

Key Insight: Indian students targeting Fall 2027 computing programmes at the University of Utah should calculate their budgets without assuming first-year assistantship funding. No automatic scholarship or full-payment discount should be deducted unless the university confirms eligibility and the award amount.

University of Utah Tuition Deposit and Payment Options

The University of Utah’s Spring 2027 tuition payment deadline is 22 January 2027, but this date does not confirm the acceptance deposit required for any specific course.

University of Utah Methods of Payment

  • Bank-transfer instructions and transfer lead times remain unresolved
  • No university-appointed international payment provider is established
  • Foreign-exchange card acceptance and provider discounts remain unverified

  3. Submit Documents: Provide financial and immigration documents required for your Form I-20
  4. Apply for Visa: Use Form I-20 to apply for the US F-1 student visa
  5. Pay Tuition: Clear billed fees by the university’s deadline and keep payment receipts

For Spring 2027 admissions, eligible students should meet the 1 November 2026 immigration-document deadline. Computing applicants targeting Fall 2027 should note the 15 December 2026 application deadline, while Fall 2028 applications are due by 15 December 2027. For reference, an INR 40 lakhs education loan would have an EMI of INR 53,974 per month, subject to the interest rate and repayment tenure.

  • I surfed the internet, visiting websites of property dealers, apartment rental companies. (eg: Apartments.com).
  • Monthly rent for 2Bed 1bathroom for me is $475 base rent. utilities add upto $50 which makes $520 including utilities. Facilities such as a dishwasher, radiant heater, oven, fridge, electric stove was provided. We have a common laundry room (paid).
  • One of the challenge was the price, some were high which are close to the university and others were lower, which are very far from the university. Another challenge was finding the right roommates. Thankfully, I paired up with the right roommates who have similar interests as me.
  • My suggestion is to start finding apartments and roommates as soon as possible to avoid delays and any challenges. Start early. Use whatsapp groups, discord to pair up with other peers and find roommates. Ask property manager to give a virtual tour of the surroundings and the apartment to ensure that everything is fine before flying. Connect to seniors and ask about their experience and take their advice.
  • My accommodation is like 5 minutes by train ( depends on where you want to go because every station is connected to the campus) and 10 minutes by bus. Most indian students stay in Salt lake downtown.

The location was ideal given that the campus is within Salt Lake City, but remains separate from the city, which allows for a 'college campus feel' of living rather than city living. It is also close to the number of our outdoor sites.

It's a highly ranked university in the entire US, and the school of computing has some renowned professors as well as facilities to nurture the students according to the current industry needs. Also, the location is really picturesque with all the mountains & natural resources.
