Pratik Kunjir Review at University Of Maryland [UMD], College Park | Collegedunia

UMCP - Insider Opinion

PK
9.0 /10

I chose this university as this university is a public Ivy League school and is well reputed, plus the course it offered was among the top 10 schools in the USA. As stated earlier the program was a perfect blend of technical and non-technical subjects, something that I was looking for.

Course Curriculum :

The course curriculum is one of the best when it comes to colleges offering Information Systems in the USA. It is very well planned 16 month program such that it prepares you for the internship and full-time hunt.

Exams :

- Gre Score - 310 Quants - 160 , Verbal 150 and writing was 4.0/6.0 - 10th CBSE - CGPA 10; 12th Standard (PCM + CS)- 80 %; Masters - 3.7/4 GPA - Requirements: I had to submit 2 LORs and 1 SOP, the SOP played a major role in getting an admit. It has to be precise and under 300 words, So it was a very well thought SOP with just about right information about me and my career.

Placement :

The on-campus placements only happen through career fairs and are hard to get, the rest of everything depends on an individual's job search strategy, the more you network the more the probability of landing a Job. Office of Career Services can help you with your strategies and can also help you build your resume.

Fees :

The total tuition fee for my course was around 64,000$ back in fall 2021. This was just the tuition fees for the course which had 30 credits. In addition to that you have to take care of the other expenses such as rent, groceries, insurance etc. The fees now would be somewhere between 60 K- 70 K $.

Faculty :

Faculty to student ratio would be around 1:10 for my program specifically, I am not sure about the other programs but we had around 150 students and 15-20 teachers.

Campus Life :

The campus is massive about 1400 acres with a lot of interesting activities every now and then, the campus also has a sports culture with a lot of football and soccer tournaments round the year.

Hostel :

I stayed in a housing dedicated to graduate students called Graduate Hills which was about a 10-minute walk from the campus. The rent would be around 500-600 $ for a private room including utilities.
