UCDavis - A World in its own

AM
7.3 /10

The experience I have had here till now is beem great, I have met so many different people from all across the globe known about their culture and learned latest academic things as well from them, and there are always some kind of events happening here and there you can easily find your own community here, there's always someone to support you here for anything you need

Course Curriculum :

It's very good you can customise it to your preferences and needs, you don't have to strict to one specialization you can take whatever subject you want. And there are three options to complete your degree by Exam, Project or Thesis option, so you can complete your degree according to that as well

Exams :

The requirements for UCDavis are not any particular thing but instead focussed on a lot of different things such as you undergrad CGPA (preferably more than 9), your research publications, GRE and TOEFL test scores, LOR, Personal and Diversity Statements. Also, for my course GRE was not taken into consideration so I had given it and scored 316 marks, but they were of no use in UC Davis and for TOEFL we need 100+ marks where I had got 102. Yes I had submitted all three of them, however in UC system they dont take a standard SOP document but instead they have their own requirements word limits, basically their own version of this document, which you can derive from your SOP but you will have to alter it carefully according the what is asked in your application, which is different for every program in every college in the UC system

Placement :

For Research its very good, all students are placed wherever they aspire for, but for people looking for Jobs it is a bit difficult currently because of the market for Software is bad here, otherwise earlier people were able to get jobs easily

Fees :

So there are 6 Quarters in 2 years and for every quarter the fees is $10k + $2k for heal insurance (which you can take from third party for less price also), so in total $60k or $72k , and the fees in not according to the subjects you take its standard for every quarter whether you take 1 or 5 subjects, its same

Faculty :

I don't know the exact student to faculty ratio, it totally depends on the subject you take, sometimes its less sometimes its high, but have TAs to help so that works. And about the faculty from what I have interacted till now they are super knowledgeable in their field and very approachable most of the times, always eager to help. And from what I have interacted my favourite professor you can could be Hamed Prisiavash and Vladimir Filkov.

Campus Life :

Oh its great, there are a lot of undergrad students and organization so there's always some kind of event happening somewhere or the other, and benefits of that you network with new people and you get free food. And there are a lot of sports related events also happening in world class stadiums, specially the Football and Basketball games here are the best

Hostel :

I am living in a shared room off campus and I am paying $670 per month, for single you can expect around $1100 per month. And for the apartments I am living in its a furnished apartment with everything covered in that price but they have increased tha price to $830 this year (yes California is very expensive)
