Psychology is a core component of psychotherapy and counselling, and the University of Bolton offers one of the oldest and most established psychology courses in the UK.
Taught at the town-centre campus in Greater Manchester, BSc (Hons) Psychology, Psychotherapy and Counselling degree gives you the chance to learn about the interaction between these disciplines, appreciate the diversity of perspectives involved, and understand their therapeutic use.
Friendly and experienced team will guide you as you develop knowledge of the theories, methods and debates central to the three core elements. They’ll support you as you explore psychology, gain specific counselling skills, and consider broader social issues that impact the roles of psychotherapist and counsellor, such as assumptions, stereotyping, diversity and prejudice.
This course also focus on developing your knowledge and skills in using psychological research methods and your appreciation of the ethical issues involved.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
- Your Class 12th subjects must include biology or chemistry (or equivalent); for instance, A-level Biology or BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science. Please note that Health and Social Care is not acceptable as a biology or science-related subject.
- You should also have five subjects at Class 10th with grade 4 to 9 (or equivalent), including English, Mathematics and preferably Science.
- You may be required to attend an interview and/or provide a portfolio of work.
- You’ll also need IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band (or equivalent) also accept a range of other English language qualifications.
