Tania Mallik Review at University Of Birmingham, Birmingham | Collegedunia

University of Birmingham

I selected the course because it was one of the most acclaimed non-clinical healthcare programs in the country. Also, the University's reputation and global contributed to this decision.

Course Curriculum :

It is well aligned with the course description found on their website. There is some industrial experience which is provided throughout the year. The course has a dissertation towards the end of all taught modules which provides the scope for research.

Exams :

- IELTS score 6.5 and above. This is along with SoP, LoRs and a CV. - SSC - 87%, HSC - 68%, BA Sociology - 83% MA Development Studies - 80% - Requirements: Yes, all three - SoP, LoRs (academic & professional) and a CV had to be submitted along with the application form. The SoP was an essay highlighting my past experiences as a professional. It largely spoke about how the course would help me in my career progression and also a bit about why I wanted to study at the University of Birmingham.

Placement :

There is no placement process through the University. Jobs can be found on platforms such as LinkedIn, Indeed, etc. However, there is support provided with resume building and job search through Career Connect.

Fees :

£23,850

Faculty :

The faculty for this course is fantastic and very approachable. There is about a ratio of 1 in 5. The Program Director, and Head of School all are very accessible to help students with ongoing queries and support required wherever needed. Moreover, every student is assigned a Personal Academic Tutor who helps guide the student during the period of the course.

Campus Life :

There are ample opportunities to engage in extra-curricular activities which run through the year. There are also various clubs one could join to pursue their interests. The infrastructure is top-notch. The campus has various accessible study spaces and also a main library which is operational 24 hours during term time. The campus also offers additional support for student well-being and safety.

Hostel :

I live in an independent house for which I roughly pay £700-1000 a month.
